emeijeh: 512 MB of RAM is very decent and generous for phone in these price range. The question you would asked is, what features are in the phone to require a higher RAM? Also, the phones have a capacity of up 8GB, thereby making available addition space for disk swapping, paging & caching which would have been done on RAM. Also note that, iPhone 3GS came with 256mb RAM and even the 4th generation iPhones in 2011 had only 512mb RAM cost like $600 i.e. N220k compare to these phones for abt N14k. Plus, iPhone are so bloated with many background processes that need more RAMs compare to these phones. 1 Like |

anythin less than 1gb ram is not a phone.it will hang over and over again once you install apps. 512mb phones and just for kids . the lenovo a1000 12k price is promo price that won't last.price may revert back to 15k plus soon.its a small 4inch phone but manageable. |

donqx:You don't know what you are talking about, you are way over your pay grade on this topic. FYI: 3rd generation iPhone had only 256mb RAM and 4th generation ones just in 2011 had 512mb RAM. And iPhone are know for notoriously using RAM with too many bloated background processes that are hungry for RAM. RAM are appropriately sized for the CPU and the desired pipeline processes. Putting a huge RAM on a CPU not appropriately sized for it, is like putting a catapillers exhaust on a Mercedes benz. Plus technological advancement today like in-line CPU caching, swap disk, paging, etc makes the OS manage its work load appropriately without the need for huge RAM. Also, having too much RAM addressable space can be a drag on performance. 1 Like 1 Share |

ihatebuhari:but why? the topic says cheap phones to buy and its not every body that needs phones with big RAMs. Why generalize by saying Nigerians are suffering.

Nigerians sha, why are people complaining that 512 mb is too low, didn't you see the title of the thread Below 15k android phones with emphasis on Price only. Abi you're expecting 8gb ram for 15k oshi! Disclaimer: If you have better options at that price range, post it and let people share in your knowledge than complain

So just because of cheap price Nigerians still they shown preference for phone with 512mb or 1GB.. Very unfortunate.. The way technology is moving even 2GB memory is not best option... An average app is becoming 100mb in size and person with 512mb phone will also be willing to download and use such app without any hitches... Clearly this is a Nation with no clear cut as far as standard is concerned.. God help us |

Nigerians and their showoff mentality. The 512 ram may actually be too small for you but may be adequate for someone else. A couple of months back, our office secretary asked me if she could get an Android phone of 15k. She is not into heavy browsing... Just the occasional checking of mails, Facebook and WhatsApp and btw she is a mother of 3 and rides on two beautiful wheels.. This post would be just too cool for her. Thanks op. And for those of you forming posh and too rich, may sense fall on you. Smh. 2 Likes |

linearity:Oga,pls don't compare any iPhone with these pieces of trash. I'm an android fan person, but iPhone X with 3gb of ram is faster than OnePlus 5 with 8gb ram. More than 4gb ram on a smartphone, for now,is overkill. IPhone's CPU's and SoC's are top notch. These things OP posted are for those who just want to be pressing a touchpad as opposed to a java or basic phone keypad. |
