The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) and members of the National Interest Group(NIG), the group of lawmakers who pushed for the installation of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as acting president, held separate meetings on Thursday during which they x-rayed North’s displeasure with what they called perpetual acting president situation in the country.

Sources in Abuja told Saturday Tribune that the two groups are worried that the North should no longer continue to condone the situation of perpetual acting presidency and that measures should be put in place to ensure that the North is represented in govenrment.

It was gathered that the two groups plan to move motions to first condemn the situation next week and that they will now follow it up with discussions on the way forward.

Sources further said that the North was worried that the acting president had been left as a sole administrator and that such a situation was not good for all.

A source further said that the region was losing much because of its lack of representation at the highest level of government.

Another source said that the North was bordered that the zone was losing from its lack of representation at the presidency.

Sources said that the North, which started tinkering with options weeks ago, was looking in the direction of some candidates as possible VP materials.

NIG had earlier shortlisted six candidates for the post of VP.

The NSF, according to sources, is also analysing the candidates, apart from looking at the options on how to ensure the emergence of a VP.

A source said that while the two groups did not want to heat up the polity with the option of impeachment or the invocation of Section 144 of the constitution, the right option would be arrived at, at a meeting on Tuesday in Abuja.

“We are meeting on Tuesday with a view to arriving at the best way forward, but I can tell you that the North wants a quick end to the acting presidency such that one of our sons would become a VP,” said a source.

It was gathered that the lawmakers decided to lie low after the governors advised against the Federal Executive Council (FEC)’s invocation of Section 144 so as to restrategise.
