I saw this post on Facebook and I thought it will be fair to share for all to learn, explains the true settings for both IPOB and Catalonia struggle... Hope the moderator will help make everyone see this.

Since yesterday after the Catalan independence Referendum vote, most IPOB faithful's and supporters have been busy on SM insulting fellow Igbos who hold opposing views to their idea of getting a Biafran state through the Nnamdi Kanu style. They quickly point to the bravery of the people of Catalonia and how they went ahead to conduct/vote for an independence referendum against all opposition mounted by the Spanish state.

However they tend to forget that the situation of Catalonia and that of the Old eastern bloc (Biafra) are very different.

(1) The struggle for the Catalonia independence is been led by their political class. Mr Carles Ruidgimont is the leader of the Catalonia government. He participated in the country's elections to get to that position, He did not just fall in from "God knows where" and begin to insult the Spanish president and authorities and other people who oppose his views. In 2011 he was elected Mayor of Girona, a district in Catalonia after failing to win same position in 2006. In 2015, he was elected a member of parliament representing Girona and in 2016 he was elected the president of Catalonia. Another person who is leading the Catalan independence referendum is Mrs Carme Forcadell, she is the President of the Catalan parliament elected by the MP's in 2015. Before then she was a councillor in Sabadell, Catalonia. The two people mentioned here are the ones pushing for the independent state of Catalonia and they hold the two highest positions of authority in Catalonia Region of Spain.
On the part of IPOB, we have the "self exiled",self acclaimed Supreme leader/Rabbi as the leader and a faceless Emma Powerful as the spokesman. Biko Who and who elected them to lead the Igbos?

(2) The Catalonia region of Spain is an autonomous region in Spain which has her own parliament of 135 members and majority of the members are in support of a Catalonia state. A constitutional law by the Spanish court was passed in 1979 defining the region of Catalonia as an autonomous community within the Kingdom of Spain and in 2006 a referendum to expand the authority of the Catalan government was also approved by the Spanish court. The parliament has been in existence since 1980 and it has committees that oversee the Catalonia Economy, Finances, Agriculture, Budgets, Employment, Justice, Home Affairs, Environment, Education, Foreign affairs, EU, immigration e.t.c. Catalonia region also has her own Police. Whereas Nigeria does not practice a regional system of government that would have given the people of the old eastern region the opportunity to be in the same league as the Catalonia region of Spain. So comparing the two sides is absolutely wrong. On the side of IPOB, the Rabbi is even confused on the areas that will be included for him in his phantom republic. Today he will include Benue, tomorrow he will add kogi, next tomorrow Enugu will be his capital and the day after that he will declare PH as his capital. What a clown!

In order to achieve our desire, things have to be done accordingly. First, we have to push for total restructuring of the government whereby Nigeria should be returned back to regional autonomy where each region will control her own resources and contribute little to the centre. And we have to do this through the proper channel which is through those we elected to represent us in the National and State assembly's.

Imagine a scenario where majority of the 109 senators from SE, SW, SS, NC, NW and NE will all Vote "Yes" for a return to regional government? Majority of the House of reps members from those areas will also Vote Yes and the various state assembly's will equally vote Yes? Do you think 100 Hitler's can stop it from happening?

The honest truth is that It is only when we have attained full autonomy like the Catalonian's that we will then decide through a referendum, whether to stay in a United Nigeria will be better for us or to stay as a separate republic.

For now, let the Rabbi and his foot soldiers deceive us no more. #Ozoemena!

As regards majority of senators and HoR members voting YES for restructuring, will that be possible in the nearest future. A restructured Nigeria won't serve their selfish interests so they most likely won't support it; unless they are 'compelled' to do so.
