Knighthouse Street Scriptures Vol 1 Album Review by tavarez(f): 1:39am On Mar 07, 2010 |
KnightHouse street scriptures Vol 1 2010{www.truspot.com} PRODUCERS Roguewave,Teckzilla,Xela,Sabr,Dj Klem,Jesse Jags,Tha Suspect,Sholextimbo,Legendary,Kraft and White Hot. not since Dj Jimmy Jatts the Definition Lp coupled with the Monster hit Stylee, have any single Album ever had a collage of Nigerias Newest,Grimiest, most loved and Most Skillfull Emceees.when Knighthouse ,a trio of Temi "Othello" Gomez,Rogba "C.E.O Arimoro, and Lanre "Sabre" Oladimeji.,Made thier Debut on the Nigerian Hip-Hop Scene, everyone Knew immediately that this Production Company/Record Label were not Joking at all.when the Critically Acclaimed Hit "The Finest" Featuring Sauce Kid,Mo-Cheddah and Teeto Ceemos Dropped ,coupled with a sizzling Video with Cameos from the likes of Loose Kanyon,Terry That Rapman,4th Republic,Heads started taking them really serious and anticipation ran hig,Blog Mills went agog of Rumours Of Signing Sauce Kid{Sinzu master is now on storm<stale??>},and various other News ,so much so that a Knighthouse Fever had Gripped every Music Lover in the Nation.Knighthouse did nothing but live up to Expectations, and the result, ??The Street Scriptures Volume 1 The Intro which is short and precise, very much Sets the Tone For the album which Goes on to the Eldee YQ ,Othello and Kel Crafted "Ijinle Pam Pam" which would definitely Have the Party Goers going Crazy.Next Comes The Radio Hit ,featuring M.I,Mo-Cheddah, Nyore "Purple"which is also another nice mellow club track and had Nyore showing Why Shes still Nigerias Undisputed Dancehall Queen.Mista Incredible Holds Down the "kingpin" Interlude, with some lines to keep his Fans Drooling over his Sophomore LP soon to drop,.The "Live @ 51" Produced By Dj Klem Had Vector,Pype and Pherowshuz Over a Live Bandish Instrumental, and had all emcees Going hard "You Cant Keep Up For Long Like Peter Rufai",They Say Let Sleeping Dogs Lie/But if I ever Catch My Dogs Lieing,I put them to Sleep".RoofTop MCs,Sabre and Loose Kanyon Go Hard on the "Number 1"with a very Melodious Hook that would have u pressing Repeat.Sasha and Mo Chedda Team Up On "If You Want Me" to lament on past relationships and let some steam out and also show why they are two of the most Anticipated Female emcees.Mr Kraft Provides his Instrumentals and Vocals on the Dj Klem Assisted "Before I wake".,an Ode to Hip-Hop which would have real heads riding the train of thought, The album is packed with more steam than Medeival Train Engines, and goes on to the Dj Klem Produced "My Thoughts" where Mode Nine Laments on the travails of his Journey in Hip-Hop Music, and let the haters understand hes still the man with lines like "Lyric-Wise,Flow-Wise me and you are not mates/So why the Hell you Bringing Hot Beef to my Hot Plate"?/After 7 Years You still Rhyming Like you outta shape/ I wont even mention your name on a Free Mixtape"(Chairman its not Free oh.Na Buy i Buy am).Rap Freshmen Ice Prince(Hes Been everywhere lately),Mobie, and Mo-Cheddah, send messages out to exes and Failed relationships on "Make It Better".Da Grin<Bi Staphilokokus lol> is paired with Jesse Jags, and Cartiar on "Lime" which has Cartiar and Grin easily outshining Mr Jagz who happened to mention the word "Swag" so much on the joint.Sauce Kid a.k.a Mr Sinzu comes out to Clear Doubts on the "Airplane Mode Freestyle"<cough>."This Rap poo is My House Today You Ma Second Guest".4th Republic Represented By Maximum and N6 Deliver a properly tuned Love Song, and live up to expectaions showing heads why they are still the Most Commercially accepted Rap Group out there,on the Myst Assisted "Orin Fe" with an equally standard Instrumental From Xela Xelz (Renowed for his work on Ikechukwus " Life and Times Of Killz Vol1).The Album Takes an unexpected turn on "I dare you" Featuring Blaise, XYZ of Str8buttah and Terry the Rapman ,which happens to be my Best Cut on the Album where All Three emcees hold it down for all Hip-Hop Purists and had Mr Joe Spasm Throwing Subliminals, with lines like Call Me Samson cuz i Be Bringing the House Down/Like that West African Idol that was Singing Lying Down{Omawunmi}/Naijas Top Emcees ,I can name 5 right now/But Yall Prolly Kill me if i call them out right now/All I can tell you for now is me and Mode are two of them/The other two We are shooting em /the last one we Kool with him.".(Your Guess isnt Prolly as Good as mine).Teckzilla Of str8buttah produces a soulful Instrumental that had Ill-Bliss Going over Bars with Othello and Ayesha on the Hook, on the acclaimed "Hate".another Shocker is the Kaliphate(My Favourite Nigerian Rap Group) Helmed "New testament",which had the Trio of A9,Dasuki and Psalmurai weaving sordid bars into scriptures and had A9 Stealing the show with hard bars like "What would it be like if Hip-Hop was the new testament?/Would there Be an<sic>Hip-Hop Jesus?would emcees represent?/Mode 9 will be John The Baptist/Punchlines evangelist,Spittin Barcelona in the wilderness/I see IllBliss as Peter,Cuz Nobodys Better/Even Nas said so but of course Jesus Knows Better/IllBliss is the Real McCoy/ but when the Chicken Crows,We hear Denial From Dat Ibo Boy/ The Most Incredible is Matthew,/M.I Hip-Hop Disciple/Sauce Kid is James.Terry is John Freestyle is Judas/Ruggedman is Barnabas,He spits for shoemakers and Mechanics/Tee-Mac Remains Pontius Pilate". i Dare say KnightHouse has stirred another Kind of Hip-Hop revolution and i reccomend this albums to all Hip-hop Lovers Alike.I copped my copy and am still playing it.the flaws on this album are easily eroded by the quality of songs in there and i must say it makes an excellent listen and would be in your Tape Decks for a long time to come. However i must say that I was expecting to see "The Finest" Original Version Featuring Sauce Kid,Mo-Cheddah and Teeto Ceemos, but did not,i understand that almost everyones heard it but some Teeto Fans are quite unhappy that he didnt make any cut on the Mixtape. Also the Wizkid,Twizzle, and Eva Assisted "Nufin Like Me"sounded like it was out of place as the artistes delivered below par performances. Meyer Lansky Scores This A Hip-Hop "almost Classic" 9.0/10 WE DO IT FOR THE LOVE #nowplaying Knighthouse Featuring Phisayo and Seven -Cracks |
