Jos is in the news again for the wrong reasons as a security guard has been jailed for forcefully having carnal knowledge of a six-year-old girl.

The accused, a 40-year-old man who goes by the name Francis Gyang was on Wednesday presented before a Jos Upper Area Court on the charges of defiling a minor. He was found guilty as charged and consequently sentenced to four years imprisonment by the presiding judge.

The Judge, Mr Yahaya Mohammed, convicted the accused Francis Gyang for forcefully having carnal knowledge of the six-year-old girl and sentenced him to a four-year-jail term without an option of a fine.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ibrahim Gukwat, informed the court that the accused security guard had on the 21st day of September, 2017 lured the young innocent girl to his room and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

This act according to him, is an offence contrary to Section 282 of the Penal Code and asked the court to met out punitive measures on the accused accordingly.

The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge and begged the court for justice to be tempered with mercy
