In most African culture, a women has no right over daddy's property but if daddy wants to give any beloved daughter, he should consult his sons first. Since there is a reason for everything, we wont blame daddy much for setting fire to his house but emmy should take it easy if he has a fair share of the property. If not, he should pursue the case traditionally to get his right. After all those ladies may be in their husbands houses living large............ Just passing by. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Not sharing anything to female children is callous but sharing it equally is callous as well. Ladies must not eat their cake and have it. Much more responsibilities have been given to the male children by the same society . The ladies will be married off and becomes another man's responsibility. If o were the man, I would definitely share a part of my property to the females but definitely not equally. 1 Like 1 Share |

the women will inherit properties from their husbands and still inherit from their father, the late man should have consulted with his sons before making the decisions for peace , family house is owned by sons ,outside properties can be shared among females, my female cousin got two building from her parent , less than a year she died, her husband sold them off and painted the town red, after all it is free money 1 Like 1 Share |

You want to dictate to your father right and dishonor his wishes, i don't know why people are wicked, it's even your siblings in this case and you're bringing up tradition, you are simply saying your father is ignorant, do the right thing and try to stay a honourable man. |

I have two sons, yet to get a daughter before I will give any of my properties to my daughter, I will access her hubby, seen cases of men becoming lazy over their wives inheritance, even kill their wives for their inheritance , when my dad dies, my mum became in charge of the family business and properties, my daughter is suppose to marry and be in charge of her husband properties 1 Like |

Some people tend to turn tradition upside down... It's incorrect to say women don't inherit properties from their late parents, they do. It's only a family house and some cases, family land, that woman never inherits. As for businesses and properties, that's wrong. Mr. Emmy would more than likely lose in court. |
Re: Man 'fights' His Late Father For Including His Female Children In His Will by aceventurx: 11:42pm On Oct 05, 2017 |
why give the main family house to women, who knows? very soon men go dey answer their wife last name , after all some married women put their father name before their hubby last name , tradition is been turned up side down , women should inherit business ,outside properties, not village or family house |

Re: Man 'fights' His Late Father For Including His Female Children In His Will by salt1: 11:43pm On Oct 05, 2017 |
ebbo: Try to avoid generalization. How is Christianity oppressing female children? It teaches that before God all souls are equal. Even the Igbo culture differs from community to community. The only properties that Igbo daughters don't generally inherit are the ancestral homes. It makes sense because she and her husband can't pack into her father's house after giving her out in marriage. I don't even like this will business. How about empowering the children when you're alive? An Igbo family gave their daughter a block of six flats as wedding gift. Fathers who have sons like Emmy should settle them early and not cause confusion with a will. 2 Likes |

Re: Man 'fights' His Late Father For Including His Female Children In His Will by laudate: 11:56pm On Oct 05, 2017 |
NtoAkwaIbom:Guy, take it easy. The Bini people do not have the same inheritance practices, as the Yoruba people. They are two totally different forms of tradition. Among the Bini/Edo people, the first son inherits everything, unlike among Yoruba people, where the property is shared equally among the children, or equally among the wives of the deceased and their offspring. So where is the similarity?? |
Re: Man 'fights' His Late Father For Including His Female Children In His Will by laudate: 12:00am On Oct 06, 2017 |
NtoAkwaIbom: Guy, you are confusing Bini cultural practices, with Yoruba custom. Both are totally different. They might have had links in the past, but not anymore - they have evolved into two distinct cultures. Stop arguing blindly. |

Funny thread. But we muslims, Islam gives half of what given to the male child to the female child. If two is given to a male child, one is given to a female child. 1 Like |
