This basically is to recognise our legends. Just like sayin "your efforts have not gone unnoticed". Please let us stop denigrating ruggedy baba's input into the nigerian hip hop industry. According to him "I cleared the whole area, now real rappers have a say too". Rugged man's intervention in naijas hip hop was very crucial and timely. It came at a time when Eedris Abdulkareem held sway. What i'm tryin to say is that if Mode9 for example, came at that moment, he wont have made any sense to most people because its just like teaching a JS2 kid Calculus. Rugged man had to raise the bar before Mode9 completely turned the game around.n Even most of the guys that belong to the new paradigm can spit as gud as rugged (My opinion). Matter of fact, he is only 2nd to mode9. That's to show how relevant he still is. Please lets show him some love. |

wengewenge:this is not a mode rugged thread, more like a "give props" thread. Anyways, I'm givin' kudos to the Thoroughbreds. They are naija's first real hip hop group. I know Trybesmen came before them but the Thoroughbreds did better hip hop. Street hop is a classic. |

sinistyle:Why don't you start the props from Eedris who was holding it down before they all come and start claimin to be cleaning mess and all sorts. If Eedris & Co. had not brought the mess, how will Ruggedman clear any? Will he ever have the relevance he have now if there was no Eedris to be dissed with ehen, peace or war, etc. Please Ruggedman is no Zap.i.n.g saviour, he's just an insecure dude who can't make good music unless he had somebody to diss? You wanna give props give it to those are due, intelligent or not |

nuff said ras, thats just it, anybody that says Rugged is the BEST rapper at any time should go for deliverance in cele church , even when he dropped enhen and went around dissing kennis doing Big bros,he later had to go for secret reconciliation meetings with KEKE and D1 who now featured him on kennis music easter fiesta and hyped him before he got the guts to now drop "THY ALBUM COME", the problem with naija heads is that SOME of them have short memory and the moment another new emcee comes out with a brand new slang like SINZUU <no disrespect ohh> or YESS BOSSHH<stilll on the love advice tip> and manages to now plut PLATE and LATE together hes better than the last one, anybody dissing sauce Kid saying that his album is never coming out, shouldnt be so quick to forget that Ruggedy was once in the position Sinzu is in now he used to be hot of En hen and some OJB collabos and some r and b collabos, for a long time before he now released Baraje and still procastinated before dropping THY album come, so please, lets be logical here, rugged should work harder if he really wants to be anything near a hip-hop BEACON as in to me he aint a master at this JUST YET WE DO IT FOR THE LOVE #NOWPLAYING-Thorobreds-Streethop <by the way dont forget the revolution this one caused too> HIP-HOP HEADS PLS DBR i see you BUT YOU CANT SEE ME LIKE DOG TEARS |

abdurrazaq:Theres an Edo adage that says" It's not everybody you see at a building site, that's is relevant to what is being built." If you want to give props to Eedris, and in fact everybody that has spit a rhyme since the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914, go ahead. My own "chop knuckle" goes to ruggedy. Eedris might have found the land, but Ruggedy laid the foundation and the rest is history. I'm a Modey fan but i gat luv for Rugged man. |

There were these guys, a group, i'm not so sure bout their name but I think its "Ruff, Rugged and Raw". They were in Tony Tetuila's "Omode Meta" track. They were hardcore. They could really rap but they were frozen out because the industry was to immature for their kind of music. |
Re: Lets Give Honour To Whom It Is Due by tavarez(f): 2:26pm On Mar 12, 2010 |
Ruff Rugged and Raw dropped a very Hard Lp that was really slept on but the Wetin Dey track got heavy rotation plus paul play featured them on some cuts of his Critically acclaimed Classic R and B album HITSVILLE.they are still grinding hard and they got loads of fans on the mainstream and underground, i love this line from one of them--see these ones just dey form stars/when the truth be say all of us dey drive Tokunbo cars WE DO THIS FOR THE LOVE #nowplaying -MI knighthouse interlude-Kingpin |
