Health Minister, Isaac Adewole Extends NHIS Secretary’s Suspension Indefinitely by olajay86(m): 8:03am On Oct 06, 2017 |
Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole has extended the suspension of Usman Yusuf, executive secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), indefinitely. In July, the Minister suspended Yusuf for three months over allegations of fraud. Adewole had set up a committee to probe the NHIS secretary, saying his response to the petitions written against him were “considered unsatisfactory”. In a recent correspondence, Adewole said the investigative committee found Yusuf culpable in the discharge of his responsibilities. “Please refer to my earlier letter ref C.405/1/132, dated 6th July 2017, suspending you from office for three months to allow for an interrupted administrative, investigative committee to look into the various allegations against you including that of monumental fraud, gross abuse of office and nepotism inimical to the NHIS scheme under your leadership,” the letter read. “While awaiting Mr President’s directive and considering that the committee found you culpable in many areas of your performance as the executive secretary of the NHIS, I am further extending your suspension from office pending the decision of his Excellency Mr President C-in-C on the report,” he added.

aolawale025: You are right, but there seems to be a rift between him and the GMD leading to insubordination and he might have guessed his order to that effect will be weightless. My opinion though. |

LionDeLeo:obeying suspension order is not subject to mutual respect. It is simply an order that must be obeyed... willingly or not. Once a junior Director is told to resume as acting GMD, Baru would face the hear from colleagues. |

Nbote: And coincidentally, ipob is now synonymous to the word "stupidity". Ipob terrorists are animals without brains.

Cacawa2: The question now is, why didn't he give that order? Or is he not aware of his authority? |

This is a case of utilizing the powers that you have. I hope Buhari doesn't come to bail him out. |

You see a Southerner suspending a Northerner, a Christian suspending a Muslim and no fuss. Were it the other way round, some people would have started grunting like the pigs they are, leaving out the real issue. Prof, go on with your work. Nigerians are behind you. Suspend and refer to EFCC. |
