2. The meaning of her stage name "Asa" means "Hawk " in Yoruba.

3. She was born Bùkólá Elemide on 17 September 1982 Paris , France.

4. She grew up near Lagos after returning from Paris at the age of two but would later travel back twenty years later.

5. She was influenced by musical acts like Erykah Badu, D'Angelo , Raphael Saadiq , Lauryn Hill , Femi Kuti and Angélique Kidjo,
Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti , Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin , King Sunny Adé , Ebenezer Obey and
Lagbaja.

6. She was introduced to
Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo in 2004 by her manager. Cobham's would eventually become her musical partner and producer.

7. Her first album "Asa" won her the prestigious French Constantin Award in 2008.

8. Her second album, Beautiful Imperfection , was released on 25 October 2010.

9. In 2014, it was reported that before the release of Bed of Stone , Asa sold 400,000 albums worldwide.
