Students at the University of Hawaii received an ominous email on Monday, titled 'In the event of a nuclear attack'.

The email gave students at the school, which has its main campus in Manoa on the big island, details about what to do if there was a nuclear strike on the island.'


In light of concerns about North Korea missile tests, state and federal agencies are providing information about nuclear threats and what to do in the unlikely event of a nuclear attack and radiation emergency,' the UH email said.


The email warned students and staff to listen for the emergency sirens and to follow instructions to shelter in place if an attack were to happen.


The email was sent out as tensions between North Korea and the U.S. continue to escalate.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been ambitiously developing a nuclear-capable intercontinental missile, and experts believe they will have one sometime next year.


That puts Hawaii well within the reach of Kim's nuclear arsenal.


Last month, a group of Hawaii lawmakers met behind closed doors with the state's Emergency Management Agency to discuss preparedness for a strike.


The state is currently working to educate residents on basic preparedness such as having enough food on hand for 14 days.


'When you hear us speak to the public, it's going to start off with the majority talking about how to prepare your family for major emergencies getting your act together,' Toby Clairmont, the executive director of Hawaii EMA, said, according to the Civil Beat.


'And then it's going to include this (preparation for a nuclear attack) as one hazard in addition to hurricanes and tsunamis and other things.'

While north korea only concerns itself on how to attack in wars, the us and other advanced countries have gone past that stage decades ago. Their major concerns is defense systems and how to survive after any attacks. If there is to be any wars now,I dont think anyone or anything will survive in north korea. Us may feel some impacts but it will be a suicide mission to north korea. There is nothing North korea can do now that the us hasn't done multiple times before. The us only reveal little of their capabilities to the public unlike north korea that publicises theirs. I still believe north korea will never go to war with the us and its allies. It is a way of telling other nations that north korea isn't a minnow that can be treated as trash anymore.

compare and contrast the attitude of north korea of present that they have nuclear weapons with north korea when they were in the process of obtaining these weapons. U will realise that north korea is more open with publicising what they have now than before. All tests are now done openly.
