BEFORE YOU JUMP THE CLIFF
Oh! Life is hard, the economy is not getting better, your business is crumbling or your parents are gone, you have been forsaken by different girls because you are paralysed or your legs have been amputated. Life is far from your desires you think and the next thing on your mind is suicide which will solve the woes you judge, it is better to be dead than lives a worthless life you ruminate.
Prior to you jumping from that mountain or before eating that poison, while contemplating on dangling yourself or thrusting that knife into your belly or ahead of you shooting yourself, have your consider the expenses of your thought, put all the following into consideration
Firstly, Have it with you that you don’t have the worst of conditions, you are facing a tough admittedly, but you need more courage to shot yourself than to live, no one have it all, life is not as rosy for the likes of Bill Gate or Rockefeller the way you think, A bend on the road is not the end of the road, they are also having a tough time but they are contended with it
Secondly, remember you have a family, friends and relatives who care about you, they made you who you are, you even grown up to be a graduate, at least you are fed to this stage ahead of you reflecting on suicide, don’t put this people into a psychological trauma, they deserve your happiness, they want more from you. Consider them!
Thirdly, When last did you visit the hospital and see patient taking the infirmary as their home, some have spent years there with no hope of living and they still look up to Allah for a better health and a fulfilling tomorrow
Fourthly, you are healthy with sound brain and energetic body but you have no wife, child or partner, are these the cause of your fret, pass through the burial ground and see the graves, the inhabitants want to live but their time was up, why do you think of dying when life never stop blessing, existence has many things to give, if life shows you its dark side, be patient, it will soon be morning and light will shine
Ponder on those ahead of that your decision, remember the promises, the vows to your lord and have you forgotten you will be held accountable for your deeds or you don’t have the idea about the following Ahadiths
The ahadith reported by Thabit ibn Dahaak( may Allah be please with him) that the messenger of Allah ( may peace and blessing be upon him) said: whoever kill himself with something will be punished with it on the day of resurrection. Narrated by al Bukhaari (5700) and Muslim (110) and the Ahadith of Abu Hurayrah that the prophet said: whoever throws himself down from a mountain and kills himself will be throwing himself down in the fire of hell forever and ever. Whoever drinks poison and kills himself will be sipping it in the fire of hell forever and ever. Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron will have it in his hand in the hell, thrusting it into his belly in the fire forever and ever. Narrated by al- Bukhaari(5442) and Muslim( 109)
Thus, ruminate on those things above, the parents and family that will suffer your loss, the hope people have in you that will be left in jeopardy, it’s never late, you will make it. Seek help from the specialist. Have trust in Allah and your problem will never remain the same again
Lastly, Offer Sallah, recite your Qur’an, behave well towards yourself and others, live with a realistic not idealistic view, have good opinions don’t forget doing righteous deeds and above all, live with the Islamic creed surely these are going to change your thinking, suicide brings more pain it’s never the solution. It’s just illusion. REMEBER SUICIDE IS A TEMPOPARY SOLUTION TO A TEMPOPARY PROBLEM
