Ahead of the much anticipated October 17 date for the continuation of trial of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group, Nnamdi Kanu, the Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has said he has no information about Kanu’s whereabouts.

Kanu has not been seen in public since September 24 when members of his group had a face-off with men of the Nigerian Army as the latter carried out a show of force in Afaraukwu, Umuahia, capital of Abia state.

Should Kanu fail to appear in court, his bail may be revoked and an order issued for his re-arrest. His sureties may also be forced to forfeit their bonds.

While some people have held the belief that Kanu is being held hostage by security agencies, some other Nigerians are convinced Kanu is a fugitive forced to flee the country following the decision of the federal government to proscribe the IPOB.

Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, earlier announced that Kanu had fled to London through Malaysia. There is however no evidence to back the former governor’s claim.
