4 Mistakes Of Adam And Eve To Stand Condemned By God; One Must Aviod by madumelu(m): 1:50am On Oct 17, 2017
Self condemnation has been to many a Christian weakness to standing before God and taking up his call. These set of people feels always when they have sinned, that they aren’t worthy not at all to approach God and most times resolve to continue with sin.

The bible made us to understand however that God is so compassionate, loving and merciful. According to the book of Chronicles, we have, “if only my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land” – 2 Chron 7:14.

You see, no matter how big or grievous our wrong may seem to us and others; God is never interested at such. He’s ever ready to associate with you and I again; if only we can willfully renounce our past ways and turn to him.

However, we have to stop condemning ourselves when we do wrongs; for we are not judges and allow God, who we are accountable to, to judge us rather.

Have this also in mind concerning God’s thought for us, “Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent” – Rev 3:19.

Below are 4 mistakes of Adam and Eve to stand condemned by God after their disobedience act; you and I must be careful be avoid?

1. They first condemned themselves before God

When Adam and Eve ate the fruit which is in the middle of the garden (Eden) God forewarned them not to eat of having been blackmailed by the devil lies, who came first to Eve in form of a serpent and asked, “did God really say you must not eat from the tree that is in the middle of the garden” – Gen 3:1. When the woman had answered that death will befall  them as commanded by God if they disobeys and take the fruit.
“You will not surely die’, the serpent said to the woman, ‘for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” – v. 4-5

Eve after all set and done, she consented to the devil’s opinion and took the forbidden fruit against God’s command. The bible tells us she also gave to Adam (her husband) and he ate too.

Subsequently, bible tells us their eyes opened and they found there were naked (that is had sinned) and they made fig leave for a clothing for themselves.

At the strike of God’s voice in the cool of the day, Adam and Eve made  the silly mistake of self-condemnation many still do now by showing no remorse for their sins. They ought at that critical moment to plead for mercy to God just as David did when he was confronted with his sin of adultery and murder by Prophet Nathan. David cried out to God,
“Have mercy on me, O Lord according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquities and cleanse me from my sin” – Psalm 50:1-2.
Adam and Eve approach to their sins was quite different and that’s the same mistake most Christians do today.

When you do wrong. Don’t feel condemned or unworthy to appeal to him. God is merciful and just and eager to forgive and accommodate us again (see 1 John 1:9).

2. They sought fig leave and covered up themselves

Again when Adam and Eve they found out there where naked; they made a very silly deadly mistake most Christians still do today – covering up their unclothedness (their sin).
“… So they sew fig leaves together and make coverings for themselves” – Gen 3:7

According to the proverbs, “he who conceals his sins does not prosper, but he who confesses and renounces them find mercy” – Prov 28:13.

God never delight in sin not to talk of when one is covering his sin. The bible tells us, God’s eye is too holy to uphold iniquity. Adam and Eve made that mistake – they try to cover up their sin instead of feeling remorse and confessing it before God.

Perhaps, covering your sin won’t help issues at all. Confess them and set yourself free.
Learn from the story of the prodigal son our Lord Jesus taught about in Luke 15. He uncovered his shortcomings by admitting his wrongs and returning back to his father. After all set and done, the father still accepted him as a son and not even a servant he  requested for.

3. When God called out to them – Adam was afraid and he rather gave excuses for their wrong.

This was the last mistake of Adam and Eve that led to God final condemnation and sending them out of the Garden of Eden.

“But the Lord called to the man, where are you? He answered, “I have heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid. And he said, “Who told you that you are naked? Have you eaten from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?
The man said, “The woman you put here with me – she gave me the fruit from the tree and I ate it” – Gen 3:9-12.

Oh! Adam have messed things up again – why the excuses ‘… the woman you put here with me…‘

When our conscience or by hearing the WORD or another confronts us of our sin, we shouldn’t lean on excuses why we did what we did or by whose cause we have done that. Mistakenly or not mistakenly, intentionally or not intentionally; we should learn to accept our wrongs and plead for forgiveness.

Adam said to God, “the woman you have given me…” No that was a very bad approach. He should have accepted his shortcoming and...
