This article is created to reveal the richest woman in Nigeria. We are aware that lots of Nigerian woman stand out as the richest but one of them is definitely the big mama at of them all and we are going to be knowing her right now on this post. This very woman have all it takes to make the list of richest people in Africa not restricted to Nigeria alone. She is not only the richest woman in Nigeria but also the richest woman in Africa and one of the richest black women in the world as contained in Forbes Magazine. This woman is no other person than Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija.

It it time we introduce her to the world properly so that people can know her better. Folorunsho Alakija who is the richest woman in Nigeria was born in 1951 in Ikorodu, Lagos state of Nigeria to the family of Chief L.A Ogbara. This woman do not tend to hide her riches from people because she is a self-made businesswomen and a former banker. She did her elementary education in the United Kingdom at Dinorben School for Girls, Hafodunos Hall, Llangernyw, Wales. After she completed her elementary education, Folorunsho Alakija came back to her father's land, Nigeria to completed her secondary School education at the Muslim High school, Sagamu, Ogun State. After rounding up her School education, she returned to the United Kingdom where she bagged a diploma in Secretarial Studies from Pittman’s Central College.

She was interested in fashion business from the day one of her life. Her passion for fashion made her study fashion design at the American College, London and the Central School of Fashion. She returned to Nigeria in the year 1974 to pursue her career as an Executive Secretary. She was employed by Sijuade Enterprises, Lagos and also worked with First National Bank of Chicago also in Lagos. This time she was working at First National Bank of Chicago, Lagos but she decided to chase her dream which is investing in the fashion industry . This decision left her with no choice than to quite her present job at First National Bank of Chicago, Lagos. She started by establishing her company called Supreme Stiches, a tailoring company which eventually became Rose of Sharon House of Fashion.

Some years later around May 1993, she started growing bigger and better . She got lucky and won a bid for the allocation of Oil Prospecting Licenses (OPL). She won the bid for allocation of an OPL to her company, Famfa Limited.

In 1996, she appointed Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited to act as technical advisor for the exploration of the OPL and transferred 40% of her stake to Star Deep Limited. In 2013, she was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the National Heritage Council and Endowment for the Arts by the Federal Government of Nigeria. She is married to Mr. Modupe Alakija and her family is blessed with four sons and two grandchildren . One of her children named Ladi Alakija got married to Lolade in August 2012 and another one named Rotimi Alakija is also married . Her sons are in charge of managing her numerous companies as she can't do it all by her self.

She founded the Famila Oil , one of the biggest oil companies in Nigeria. The estimated net worth of the African female billionaire, Folorunsho Alakija is more than $2.1 billion. She has mansions in some of the choicest areas in London, United States and in The Middle East. She also founded a charity foundation known as The Rose of Sharon Foundation with which she helps to take care of widows and orphans; empowering them through scholarships and business grants.

She also has an impressive portfolio of investments and assets . She is a popular woman that has everything that makes life comfortable.
