What Is Wrong With Nigeria? What Is The Nigerian Dream? by attaboy(m): 6:00pm On Mar 12, 2010
I see and ear people complaining everyday, every hour, every minute, every second about nigeria.

US has the American Dream, which is the expected standard of living for an average American.

Do we have the Nigerian Dream? What do we want as Nigerians?what is wrong with nigeria? what is the expected standard of living for nigerians? what is the expeced average number of people amongst the population that should be comfortable for us to know we have a good country, all this questions are apparently vague questions with no answers per se,

one needs to have a map showing ones destination before one starts a journey, its  apparent, Nigeria does not have one, perhaps its not too late to redirect our steps and set a target for ourselves.

so i am putting it out to the Nairalanders? what would u want out of nigeria?

if u were the Governor or President , how will u change the economy or the face of nigeria?

what would u term as the Nigerian Dream?

what do u want the country to do for u? and what can u do for the country?

people Speak and for once lets stop and ask ourselves if we as individuals know what we want or what government can do to better lives. smiley

Nigeria is a marriage of inconvenience, that has given birth to illegitimacy and abomination, that is what is wrong.

As for dream, since 1966 it has been a bloody nightmare, to such an extent that today there is no value for life.

We live in a society where people want to be rich by any means necessary, in their minds the end justifies the means. They worship money. Drug running, Kidnap, assasination, cultism, 419, cash and carry leadership etc etc etc

Dishonour has now replaced honour, yet these vagabonds are celebrated and feted because they have money.

Those who should know better are no better. . .

Our journalists just dey show deadbody (somebody's father, mother or child) anyhow, animals in the slaughterhouse are treated with more dignity.

efendi, ukeke, erejiro and many many more have been killed for no just cause.

What is wrong with Nigeria is simple:

- sharing of wealth
- lack of basic infrastructure where anyone can earn and sustain a living (roads, electricity, water)
- lack of literacy and as such many people are still without access to basic education
- lack of healthcare to reduce comon ailments like malaria which reduce economic productivity
- lack of discipline in our behaviours at work in terms of following processes by the book, auditing these processes and aiming for TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT ( too much manage manage, skimping and saving, short changing to max profits with no value added)

The above means we cannot challenge our existing govt cos the divide is so far that they are unreachable and unaccountable. Nigerians need to wake up and gain what is rightly theirs, the fight is not with each other but a fight together for what is rightously ours. Enough said!!
