Experience agricultural life at first hand

Songhai farm is promoted by the United Nations as a Centre of Excellence for Africa.

Songhai goes far beyond the established model of success in Africa. Established in 1985 by a Nigerian-born American Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Godfrey Nzamujo and supported by a few locals on one hectare of land in a suburb of Porto-Novo, it is now a sprawling symbol of success.

Songhai is much more than a farm. There are plenty of rooms for paying guests, trainees, foreign scientists and teachers. It has its own restaurants, and other facilities needed.

Songhai is restoring nobility to farm work through a functional training based on knowledge, skills and a value system.

Applying foreign techniques and technologies to local resources it has a sustainable practice on an incredible scale.

Nothing is over looked or underutilised, much of the power generated is solar and no animal byproduct are wasted as they are used to create biofuel which is used for cooking and heating.

Songhai is nearing 100% self-reliance and proof of its success is the fact that the main market hub of Porto-Novo is no longer in the center of town, but along the roadside just outside Songhai.

Join a group of inspiring farmers traveling to Songhai to experience first-hand integrated farming at its best on 27th, 28th and 29th October, 2017 for a weekend of learning integrated farming, networking, relaxation & fun.
