Avascular necrosis (AVN) also called osteonecrosis is a condition that causes the death of the bone, it can be associated with sickle cell patients as well as some other disease, it usually affects the bone at the joint, sickle cell warriors go through a lot with this issue. Avn occurs in sickle cell when there is dehydration and the cell lies on the joint for a long time which makes the bone at the joint dies.
