Am a Java programmer, i know some MySQL and SQLite. I am doing a project that needs to get images and string(s) to display in a random order without repeating the same image or string. Meaning i would need a server-side scripting language because i don't want the algorithm to that to be embedded in the source code for the app.

Question --> Between PHP and python, which one is powerful, supported by large communities, scalable, and widely used with frameworks available in larger quantity with diverse functions.

Java servlets are out of the question because i want less overheads, quick response and is supported by many servers.

Based on the above stated ,go for php,python has a large community too ,but mostly for desktop ,AI etc,php community and frameworks is larger /more than python when it comes to server side scripting.

python all the way, you could alot of powerful data analysis with python. community too strong.

There is a huge collection of library to do almost anything

Thanks, but i heard PHP is easily hackable. And some PHP frameworks are built with python.

Automate the Boring Stuff with Python is the best book I have read on Python. I don't know if it has been updated but trust me, you'll like it

well, my best bet is php and mysql, its very easy and php scripts are not shown on the source code, you can randomize your queries by writing the condition and " ORDER BY userid RAND() " as easy as that.

it also comes with other conditions like AND, OR, LIMIT, etc
