France's capital region- also known as Île-de-France is one of the most important economic zones of Europe. The business district La Defense is the center of the job market. Many of the biggest French companies like Total have their Headquarters in this business district. However, France is still catching up to becoming more and more welcoming to English speakers who are professionally talented but lack French speaking skills.

What can you do as an English speaker to get a job in France? What are the factors that make a difference?
Let us take a look:

1. Your educational institution: France is one of those many countries where the brand value and reputation of your university/business school counts. Being from one of the best "grande ecoles" of France will be definitely a plus.
2. Your previous professional experiences : Proven excellent track record in past professional life is the best way to compromise for lacking French skills. This, of course, will happen if the job responsibilities of the position you are applying to do not depend on French language
3. Your portfolio : Documents are your first impression. CV, motivation letter and reference letters have to be flawless in order to reach to the interview rounds The interview has to be the moment to seal the deal.
4. Willingness to learn French : Not knowing French and, in addition, showing no interest whatsoever in doing so, might be interpreted as a sign of reluctance to adapt. This directly implies inability to cooperate and perform in the new work culture of the company to the best of your ability. Therefore, it is always nice to demonstrate interest in improving your French t kills
5. Choice of job position : Some roles are more language dependent than others. Therefore, while choosing a field, you must take this into account.

There do exist job boards which list English Jobs in France but you will notice that filtering out to find English requiring jobs is a very time consuming process. http://hellojobinparis.com/paris-internships-and-jobs/ is a job listing which is an only English jobs listing.

I have experience in the French job market and you can comment below if you have any more questions.
