A Nigerian gospel singer Evangelist Jacob Kunle Ajomale was jailed in the United States of America after he committed a fraud related offence, has learnt.

According to a press statement from the U.S. Department of Justice, Ajomale was sentenced to six months imprisonment and two years supervised release for making false statement while applying for a United States passport.

Acting United States Attorney, Channing D. Phillips and Acting Director Patric B. Donovan of the State Department‘s Diplomatic Security Services stated that Ajomale, 46 ,was sentenced by Honorable Justice Ellen. S. Huvelle of a United States District Court.

He was said to have been jailed acting on government evidence that on March, 7, 2001 Ajomale completed and submitted a U. S .Department of State application for a United States passport at the Washington D. C. passport office .

P.M.NEWS learned that prior to submitting the application, the Nigerian obtained a valid driver’s license from his friend, Emmanuel Adegoke, with the intent of using his name to obtain a fraudulently issued U.S. passport in his friends name for his personal use

The accused and Adegoke were said to bear similar physical facial attributes .Notedly , the Maryland driver’s license bore a photograph of an individual with a side facial profile , which he attached a photograph of himself to with false name, address, date of birth, social security number and date of birth of Adegoke to comit the ofence.

After submitting the fraudulent application on 7, March 2001, he received a U. S. passport which he later used to travel to Nigeria,

Nemesis, however, caught up with him on 5, February, 2009 when he was arrested at Baltimore-Washgton International Airport arrival terminal as a result of a federal arrest warrant, and notification by the U. S.Customs and border protection to the assigned agents
