Barring any last minute change of plans, **Acting President Goodluck Jonathan will on Wednesday announced a minor cabinet reshuffle that will see five ministers removed from their posts. Presidency sources told Saharareporters on Tuesday that the ministers in charge of Power, Rilwan Babalola, Aviation, Babatunde Omotoba, Works, Hassan Lawal, Federal capital territory, Adamu Aliero might be out of job after Wednesday’s meeting of the Executive Council of the Federation.

The sources also disclosed that the cabinet changes might see the Minister of Information and Communication, Dora Akunyili, swapping portfolio with another of her colleague. It is not clear last night what Mrs. Akunyili’s new job would be.

Other options that Mr. Goodluck was weighing last night was the removal of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mohammed Barkindo and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Farida Waziri.

The acting president’s associates and the Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma-led Presidential Advisory Council have been pressuring him to rejuvenate the cabinet for better service delivery.

The cabinet reshuffle which ought take place last week had to be withdrawn due to threats from the powerful Governor's Forum, our source said tomorrows changes underwent substantial hiccups due to regional balancing that had to be applied to avoid an appearance of victimization of northern ministers-particularly Minister of Agric, Sayyad Abba Ruma- that were initially penciled down for removal.
