Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun Stateon Sunday said he was not happy payinghalf salaries to civil servants and political appointees in the state.

The information is in a statement by Mr Adelani Baderinwa, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osogbo.

Baderinwa stated that the governor said this when Federal Government team on digital switch over visited him at the governor’s office.

He quoted Aregbesola as saying “economic downturn induced by brazen corruption, wanton theft of crude oil andmismanagement of the country’s resources by the last administration forced the state to what it was witnessing today.

’’According to the governor, no reasonable person or government will be happy not performing its required responsibility.

He added that “we are not happy paying modulated salary to our workers in the civil service and political appointees. Weare compelled by financial reality.

“Contrary to the lies around , it is not all our workers that receive half salary.

“Workers on levels 1-7, being the most vulnerable and the largest chunk of the workforce are being paid full salary.“

"Workers on levels 8-10 receive 75 per cent of their salary, while levels 12 upward collect 50 per cent of their salary.

“The workers have shown maturity, support and understanding. We acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifices and support of the workers.

”Aregbesola, however, said the financial burden on the government was incurred to provide infrastructure and develop the state.

but we all know he's not paying. this half salary story he is giving to the press is just a cover up.

make it no dey like say him no dey pay.

Before, the excuse was Goodluck Jonathan hated the state and was withholding large part the state allocation.
Now, another excuse.

When he was contesting for the gubernatorial election in 2007, all his manifestoes were centered on how Osun state will be self sufficient on her IGR, not relying on the allocation from the FG. As a commissioner in Bola Ahmed Tinubu's cabinet, Aregbesola cited Lagos state as a case study, where the State allocations for months were withheld by President Obasanjo, how he was able to help in generating more IGR for Lagos state.

What is now his excuse after coming out to tell us the monthly IGR of the state has increased from 300million to 1.6billion and still increasing?

I think another name for nigerians should be endurance. Nigeria is the express confirmation of the popular tittle by Robert Schuller 'tough time never last , tough people do', imagine enduring non payment of salaries for over a period of time.

Seems the cannabis farmers in Western Nigeria aren't paying taxes to the government.

On a normal circumstance , Ondo, Osun, Ogun and Ekiti should be competing in IGR with Lagos state after collecting taxes from hemp farmers.

I remember starting this to a Yoruba who claimed " you can't argue fact on stats".

When your reality contradicts your "facts reduced to stats", your stats is something to laugh and mock at. When your stats in 2013 was exposed as fraud simply by a reduction in oil money, your stats is something to laugh at. When stats claiming high IGR can barely feed or pay salary's and continually beg for handout and bail out, your stats is something to laugh at.

Match your reality to your stats if you want it to be taken seriously. Let's use the Anambra you competing yourself with. Anambra people claim their state is progressing. Thus far, they report that no salary is being owed in their state, the government is not begging for hand outs and bail out thus, their reality proves their statement. You on the other hand, your paper statements does not even collerate with your reality.

Your reality would continue haunting you no matter how much paper decoration you try to do. Match up your reality with your paper stats if you want it taken seriously.. Mkay

It's a shame SW always do paper decoration to try and save face and appear "most developed and most progressive" they delude themselves with. What's the benefit of having high IGR on paper, decorating your rot with beautiful numbers, yet starving? It's like a man showing pictures of gorgeous houses, cars, clothes, etc but yet not having any money to feed himself. Who does it benefit to lie to yourself? Who does it benefit to form? It's like they are too ignorant to realize they are harming and mocking themselves, noone else.

After all, let's look at now. We all keep wondering what happens to their high IGR. Most don't believe they shouldn't be helped because their leaders claims they are sufficient enough to take care of themselves based on the reported high IGR. Then you have others whom don't believe their figures anymore as it rarely matches their reality/what's on ground and then you the set that flat out believe the stats but now see them as the most corrupt set in the country since almost all their reported IGR seems to be embezzled. In end the paper decoration does nothing but damage their image and make them a laughing stock yet they still continue. What a shame. I once said that only God knows the real figures of SW states and I still believe that.

To me personally, I believe that Sw it's the least progressive region in the country despite all their claims. My reasons being they literally the only region that didn't have any hindrance ( something they pride themselves with) yet all the regions that did (ss, se and north) are literally neck to neck to them in all the statistic provided. That's speaks alot sadly, especially we now see they decorate the shit out of their papers before presenting it. A shame if you ask me.

South east has the lowest population because people are running away from there due to underdevelopment of the region.

Few who are still there are living in abject poverty. What a pity.

These states focuses more on the important thing which is CIS ( Citizen's Income Sources ) than IGR ( Internal Generated Revenue ).

IGR does not mean a better standard of living for the people.

Well said. They keep using statistics to destroy their future. Its like how they lied for years about being the most educated.. Notice how they don't make that claim anymore. Its easy to use statistics to hide your problem but reality has no mercy when it strikes
