‘135 Muslim women in captivity for 5 years’ News
Written by Ismail Mudashir, Kaduna
Monday, 08 March 2010 00:57
About 135 Muslim girls and women allegedly abducted during the Yelwan Shendam religious crisis of 2005 are yet to be released by Christian clerics despite all efforts to secure their freedom, the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria (SCSN) has said.
The President of the council Dr. Ibrahim Datti Ahmad who spoke to newsmen at the weekend shortly after 50 Muslim organisations from across the country met in Kaduna alleged that the abductees were subjected to forced labour and sexual abuse by their abductors who were mainly Christian clerics. He said they were abducted during the crisis that lasted for days after their husbands and parents had been killed. He added, “After killing their parents in their presence, they took them to the bush, trying to convert them to Christianity but when they refused to be converted, they started maltreating them through sexual abuse and forced labour’’.

Ahmad alleged that the perpetrators were doing it with the support and assistance of the Plateau State government. He also said the state government had been suppressing moves by the council to expose the abductors.

“When the abductors realised that they could not convert the Muslim girls and women to their religion, they asked some of the relatives to pay ransom before their loved ones are released to them. We have done all we could to secure their release, but they never allowed us to succeed,’’ he said.

He called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency intervene to secure their freedom and that their abductors should be made to pay compensation to their families for forced labour and sexual abuse.

“A sizable number of them have put to bed as a result of the sexual abuse by their kidnapers and yet they refused to release them’’, he added.

The SCSN demanded that the Federal Government must take all necessary steps to make the recent crisis in Plateau State last January the last one.

I don't believe this.

The reason being is that you Muslims would have slaughtered thousands of Christians if this actually happened.

if truly there are people in the bush abducted, im sure the fulanis would have gone on a killing spree to seek for thier release

I don't believe the poster a bit. These people always want revenge, they can't wait all this while without unleashing venom. Imagine how fast they revenged in Jos,it wasn't even up to two months. Besides, Christians do not force people to convert to Christianity. It has never been heard.
Re: Muslim Women In Captivity. by Nobody: 11:34am On Mar 18, 2010
i find this hard to believe - the women have been held for over five years . . . and no backlash - beans

Re: Muslim Women In Captivity. by tubabie(f): 1:24pm On Mar 18, 2010
This is a blatant and Daily Trust is not a credible source.
Will this actually occur since 2005 and Jihadists would lie low for that long?
Re: Muslim Women In Captivity. by desgiezd(m): 1:52pm On Mar 18, 2010
Silly crap!

People abducted for upwards of five years, you know the abductors and you have been negotiating without success and yet you refused to report to the government or even address a press conference. This is a load of lies!

Why are all these stories coming up now? In another thread, it was the Plateau State governor who didnt want some police officers transferred because they are loyal to him - a 2008 story ressurecting in 2010.

Please poster, find some other convincing lies to tell us as you have failed woefully in this one.

The right thing for GOOD Muslims to do now is to condemn this atrocity that took place in Jos.

beystwin:

The right thing for GOOD Muslims to do now is to condemn this atrocity that took place in Jos.

I am a Muslim, trying to be good, but not in any way apologetic or shameful.
The atrocity by Muslim Fulani herdsmen in Jos is most condemnable, barbarous and shameful.
However, I think the Nigerian media has been unfair in the reportage of the plateau crisis since it started.
In the January incident, the Beroms had upper hand, killing as many Fulanis as were killed in the last genocide, and their cows. But the press did not qualify the Beroms as Christians. What was reported was that there was violence on the plateau and there were many casualties. Now when similar, and of course equally shameful act, was perpetrated by Fulanis, the press remember they are Muslims and qualify them as 'Muslim Fulanis'.

As as been argued by the few objective analysts that have refused to be drenched in the pool of sentiments , the Jos crisis is more of economic and political, than religious, but because it involves two ethnic groups that are divided among the two major religions, it was easily a religious war.
A few questions beg for answers on whether the crisis is a religious one:
-Are the Fulani Muslims fighting them because they want them to convert to their religion or because they were uncomfortable with their religion?
-With all the burukutu, womanizing and other unchristian activities common among Beroms, do you think it could be because of Christianity they are fighting the Fulanis?

We have suddenly forgotten the origin of these fracases: the fight over LG Chairmanship election, control of land etc.

We should try to be objective in our analysis. The Muslim Fulanis' act is most atrocious, as is the acts of the Beroms in earlier killings, even though the press failed to qualify Berom as Christians in qualifying the earlier crises.

So you're just getting this bit? Daily tissue is where we get our hearty chuckles everyday. A paper that undertands copy and paste esp from reuters and aljazzera, and practically promotes blind hatred. The Arrow that wrote this story sent it in from kaduna,to let you know how thorough his investigation was. Christians abducting muslim girls, enforcing conversion and using them as sex slaves? Then medina must be in mexico.

18 Cartoons: @all posters, thank you all for getting it in your thick skulls that we dont take shi-t, atleast that will alot of you think twice before fu-cking with a HAUSA/FULANI guy.

If Hausa / Fulani don't change, they will soon be freed into Sahara desert to subsist. Ghadafi was only wrong about the borders and capital cities; the Northern capital wouldn't be Abuja (God forbid!), cos Abuja is firmly in the Middle Belt; it might be Damaturu or something. grin grin grin

States in green are sharia. There might be need to rejig the map, because there are sizeable Christian populations in the North East.
