agaugust: why does a lack of amphibious vehicals mean no force projection? America upgraded the armor on the brad so it cannot cross rivers... so they have no amphib... what difference does it make? Amphibious vehicals for anything other than Marine units is an obsolete concept, because it means less armor |

MikeCZAR: What model does Angola use? Angola bought 22 T-72's from belarus, the M1 model. This is the B model. T-72B. So appropriately, the question should be, what is a T-72B model doing in a Nigerian bush, with a Nigerian soldier wearing his signature head-warmer in the heat of northern nigeria? |

agaugust: Jeez!!! I cannot believe the amount of stupidityy that has now been exhibited by this guy. The defence of the country comes first. Why should the engineers in defence industries always think of Nigeria when they manufacture weapons? Amphibious capability of IFV compromises the armour, it means you will have to reduce the thickness to a greater extent. SA made armoured vehicles are hard rock. They will consume the whole of Nigeria without any resistance. 2 Likes |

Patchesagain: Nope, the RPG used on Rosomak is an ordinary HE RPG and NOT a standard armour penetrating HEAT RPG that is able to destroy a mighty Main Battle Tank that has 100mm amour of solid steel that your weak Badger IFV does NOT have ! In war the enemy uses all types of RPG on you, and you cannot select his weapons for him. Show me where Badger was tested against armout piercing RPG ! ....and SANDF has only 2 units of Badger IFV for evaluation and NOT yet in service ! Even if you hopefully buy it and induct by year 2020, armor destroying RPG will destroy all your Badgers like a BMP-2. FACT !! . |

mzilakazi: He was indecent enough to use his mother as comparison to F-7 jet, but I was decent enough to use a man that is not his blood relation. Gripen jet is a copy of 1970s Viggen jet which is a copy of 1960s Draken jet . They are the same family copied along the family line . |

Draken is the fuggen tits. The first true-blue multi-role fighter that could operate off public roads and be re-armed by poorly trained conscripts in under 10min. It was just as at home intercepting bombers as it was doing the dance of death with fighters. Hnnngggg..... Ironically, the Draken is from the same era as the F-7

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 5:26pm On Nov 28, 2014 |
agaugust: You are being ridiculous. Gripen is not the copy of anything other than evolution like patches has already said. All of those fighters you mentioned above are manufactured by SAAB. It is completely different from China copying MIG 21 from Russia and call their version F7/J7. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 5:28pm On Nov 28, 2014 |
Henry120: Noisy jet engine. Speed to fast over target area. Radar range ground tracking ~60km only. Tiny cockpit with no specially dedicated ISTAR equipment consoles. Short travel range point only operational radius. Very short loiter time over target area. Zero ELINT capability....all these make SAAF Gripen jet a poor man's low profile and ineffective ISTAR aircraft. NAF ATR-42 powerfully rules the ISTAR world of Africa from Cape Town to Cairo, while we fly, SAAF will open mouth dey look us like a Mr. lookman yussuf looking dazed . |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 6:47pm On Nov 28, 2014 |
Patchesagain: Hunters loiter around to find the animal to kill. Scorpion jet loiter time is a great 5 hours on patrol, good for ISTAR. NAF ATR-42 loiter time is a massive 8 hours on patrol !!! Perfect for ISTAR !!! SAAF Gripen jet has embarrassingly small loiter time below 1 hour, very bad for ISTAR. NAF is the supreme master ISTAR continental power house of Africa ! . 1 Like |
