Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Ashrat Salama, has called on Nigeria to collaborate against the terrorist group, Islamic State and ensure the establishment of a multi-national force against it, he particularly noted that it was necessary for Nigeria to work with Egypt to combat the terrorist group. “It is too big for Egypt alone, you cannot go just because you are provoked, you have to plan well. We must not give a chance to these terrorists,” he added.

Nigerian Para's in the C-130

Nigerian para's hit the ground.

100% I agree, those are just mere jumpers by the kind of parachute the use. It was merely made for safe landing and not to be maneuvered in the air to land where the operator want. They are not free fall operators like SANDF paratroopers. Nigeria has no single free fall operator and they are still babies as far as parachuting is concerned.

SANDF generals will be picked off by snipers for sure, since you have zero comb at experience.

Nigerian army deployed generals to ECOMOG battle front lines and they all came back home to Lagos alive
.
ECOMOG against whom?

Did the enemy have EW, COMINT etc capabilities of intercepting your signals and radio communications and specialist units, stop being foolis..h and protecting rubbi.sh.

Was the enemy even professional or they were just a bunch of hungry cannibals?

Deploying Generals to act as warrant officers, what does that say about professionalism in your armed forces.

Bwahahahahahahahaha… do you mean Nigerian soldiers cannot do free fall jump? Whatever, they should come to SA to receive training. Somewhere in 2010 SA held an international advanced military free fall course, falling from 10 000 ft above the ground. Nigerian troops will die.

Nigeria has both training and combat experience.

South Africa has only some weak training but NO combat experience grin grin
.

South Africa is the only one between the two that has:

1. Fought a modern conventional war
1a. Fought a modern mechanized war*
1b. Fought a modern mobility war*
2. Fought in air-to-air combat
3. Operated in air-space domenated by advanced enemy SAM's
4. Conducted Air-borne operations
5. Conducted Air-Assault operations

And in terms of training, Nigeria is not even in the same sport, let alone competing

* Different stages of the war in Angola

Crude oil and gas was first discovered in Nigeria in 1956 in large commercial quantities at the town of Oloibiri and export sales began in 1958. So, in 1960 we drove the British away and took our destiny in our hands. The British did not have the courage to fight war with Nigeria over independence and left us in peace.

South Africans were too dunce and too dence to grab the bulls by the horns and wrestle the white man to release your destiny to you, so dumb and senseless were you that you did not even know you had anything called destiny, reason why the Boer caged you like zoo creatures until 1994 when even Togo republic had gotten independence long before you genetic M.orons of South Africa. Shame !

If Nigeria did not lead OAU to free you, no black or coloured South African will ever own a laptop and you and me will not even be arguing here on nairaland. WE FREED YOU, BE GRATEFUL !

Still claiming imaginary glories? How shamefull and delusional to think that your country has any relevance on the international level.

The end of the cold war ended apartheid, the English and Americans didnt need the Apartheid government to fight communism in Africa, so they cut their support and waited for them to fold. All Nigeria did was issue visa's and write a single song - so impressive

If a Cuban victory in Angola (which is so far away) did not end apartheid

How did songwriting in lagos (even further away) free us?

What snipers?

We are the ones who's snipers pick off enemy leadership at record distances

Nigerian Army did not face real resistance in ECOMOG "battle front lines"

Modern generals have no role at the front - if they are at the front they cant do their jobs properly

Why do they need at the front in the Nigerian army? Are his Brigadiers, Colonels and Captains unable to do their jobs? Does he need to do it for them?

Napoleon is not worth studying
how can anybody regurgitate this blatant rubbish out in a public fora and still claim to have a hold on his sanity.
Dude, wherever you may have completed your course in Strategic studies, military history or defence studies and nobody mentioned Bonaparte then that place must have been a baby's kindergarten class.
I mean Bonaparte is a name that cannot be detached from any known documentation or curricula on military history, it is a name that also forced the signing of the Vienna conference 1814/1815 to stop a war that was already disintegrating Europe. Read about Bonaparte he is worth studying.

He all so abdonded his army, twice and when ever he fought the Brits he did poorly. Just like all great genrails including my favourite, Rommel. They all have flaws. Rommels was failing to understand logistics, grand strategy and spending far to much time up front. He should never of been promoted to field marshal. He should of remained at divisional level.

J
No, for modern studies its Manstein, Rommel, Von Kleist, Patton, Montgomery and Zhukov and their contemporaries such as Dayan, Schwarzkopf, - and if you are South African - Viljoen

Napoleon is for historical context, he adds nothing to modern studies, he is a great general - but unrelated to moderwarfare
