Henry120: Well for the sake of satisfying your imaginations and take your stats to be true. 39% of 50 million South Africans is tactically less than 26% of 180 million Nigerians. You see, there are still more people who live under poverty in Nigeria than in South Africa. Moreover, there is no country in Africa that has radical poverty alleviation programmes than South Africa. Why do you think the whole Africa is tunning to SA including uneducated Nigerians who seek jobs and permanent residence? Being poor in SA is totally different than being poor outside SA borders, except in Europe and America. 5 Likes 1 Share |

mzilakazi:how is that the beginning of trouble we have had higher cases of corruption than this before,, that's why we voted in a former head of state who has a track record of fighting corruption... this particular case involves our former minister of finance to give account of the $2b difference...... Nigeria remains the first African country to clear its debt in 2007 and we would again...... Now please tell me how much is S.a external debt?? what's your debt to GDP ratio?? its time to talk about you |

The outgoing British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Andrew Pocock, has said the problem of Boko Haram insurgency in North-east Nigeria is not something that can be resolved with the use of the army, the police or the security agencies only. Speaking at a farewell interactive session with members of Kaduna chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Correspondent Chapel in Kaduna on Monday, Mr. Pocock said: “We don’t look at the problem in the Northeast as purely a security problem. It is not something that can be resolved with the use of the army of the police or the security agencies only. It is not going to be solvable. “There has to be three different things; the first is a properly articulated security efforts. The second is that, there has to be a different kind of politics in the Northeast, where state and Federal Government work together instead of against each other and where there is a much more common and agreed agenda about what needs to be done to correct many years of mis-governance and of poor policy in the North-east. “The third dimension has to be a developmental and economic uplift agenda. Too many, particularly young people are not only without employment in the North-east but because of the insurgency are without any economic prospect whatsoever. No one can live without hope and indeed if the economic and the developmental aspect of these are not addressed, the opportunities for radicalisation are much greater. So, those three things have to work in tandem, the security instrument, politics and development/economic approach.” He however stated that with the new government of President Muhammadu Buhari, people are looking to a chance to get out of the security situation in the North-east, adding that, in the overall, there is greater possibility of stability and economic success, economic recovery perhaps than they might have been before the election. The High Commissioner said although the army had some successes in 2013, those efforts were not followed up and Boko Haram came surging back in 2014 and effectively controlled most of the North-eastern country in Borno State as well as Adamawa and Yobe. “20, 000 people killed in a conflict is a very serious matter,” he said. He said in the overall, there is greater possibility of stability and economic success, economic recovery perhaps than they might have been before the election. “The British government has long been involved in training Nigerian soldiers to fight the very difficult anti-insurgency combat that they are faced with in the North-east,” he said. “We have done this with some success. There is a lot more that we can do. What we need is high level access to the new people that President Buhari is likely to appoint.” http://www.metronaija.com/2015/07/nigerian-army-cant-defeat-boko-haram-uk.html |

ddami: The bigger the pockets, the bigger the qualification to make loans. SA revenues amount to over $120 billion while Nigeria's are less than $30 billion. Can you the difference? We qualify to have much bigger debt than Nigeria. Imagine if you earn less and you go to the bank to make a loan of a fancy car and beautiful house in upmarket suburb. The bank will immediately turn down your application based on your affordability. 5 Likes |

I believe without any reservations that majority of people categorised as poor in South Africa are foreigners. South Africa has an estimated 10 million illegal immigrants who live in slums in South Africa depending on the child grants that their children are being offered on the virtue of having been born in South Africa. 4 Likes 1 Share |

FighterPilot: You are a world class dummy. Even if the South-African population was over a billion people, your poverty percentage would still be 39%. It is percentages, not numbers that counts you primitive Zulu savage. That's the point despite your supposed handouts, and food stamps you zulus can't seem to get enough of, 39% of your population still live in extreme poverty. You are a lost cause! |

Henry120: That is untrue. The cost of living in South Africa is much more higher than that of Nigeria. Like I said, Someone who is poor in Nigeria is completely different to someone that is poor in Nigeria. Besides your statistics are grossly flawed and hence are false. The world bank rates South Africa less than 10% because of their aggressive poverty alleviation programmes that they have put in place to fight poverty. 2 Likes |

mzilakazi: Bwhahahaha It's not a loan, its ..... "The package includes the sharing of $1.6 billion dividend and $500m tax by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited paid between the federal and state governments." http://www.punchng.com/news/bailout-workers-others-warn-govs-against-wasteful-spending/ .....income from shares dividend investment of a petro-gas company NLNG and taxes revenue. Sure you cannot read and understand public finanace/financial accounting, due to the poor education you get from fine schools in South Africa. Then state governments having salary problem is not a federal problem, afteral, states do not fund military or police, those are funded by federal annual budget. If federal government of Nigeria has $ 3o billion cash reserve and refuses to spend it, and is getting paid income of $ 2 billion bulk money form business investment and tax revenue to give the states, then Nigeria is not broke. i have always said, that me as an accountant, can professionaly say that Buhari is wrong to say Nigeria is bankrupt, a bankrupt man does not dish out billions of dollars cash to help others. Southies, eat the humble pie, you were all WRONG . |

FighterPilot: Cost of living, Houses/ rents in Victoria Island and many parts of Abuja are amongst the highest in the world. Someone who is poor in Nigeria can afford to pay his bills and run his family. In South-Africa despite food stamps, your poor are still the laziest in Africa. According to in-country Stats in South-Africa, half of South-Africans live in poverty, while the world bank puts that figure at 39%. You are a dirt poor 3rd world country with the world's highest inequality. 1 Like |
