@DonBebs does it have to be used to b convinced....any way Nigeria is battling a rag tag militia force that has wrecked havoc with your army. Look at your living conditions of your army personnel, salary, equipment and conditions of service and conclusions are dire. Modern and professional armies possess sophisticated equipment that has never been tested but ready too when called upon. A lesson Nigerian army can testify through soldiers complaining about poor military hardware and refusing to fight or worst running away. Morrocco has advance weaponry and yet never used , South Korea, Japan, Spain, etc. Your problem face the reality 1 Like

Thiza:The US stopped releasing death toll of its troops in Afghanistan. After discovering it wasn't helping anyone 2) For the Kenyan case, the initial blast at the camp had a 200M radius, everything within that radius was wiped out of existance the army has had to take samples from families to try find out the remaining scraps so as to know the death toll, since an unknown number were captured alive as PoW, wile others died miles away from the camp and as is with any professional army, they can't release an official death toll without having the exact numbers & identities of the fallen and having to notify their families first. 1 Like |

patches689: Boko Haram has no air force and is ZERO air threat. All we need today is the 36D radar 175km detection range, every aircraft approaching NAF base is ours or a friendly, Boko Haram our enemy has ZERO air force, NAF owns the entire skies of Nigeria, so what good is the IFF in such a war? No use really. IFF is a small piece of hardware, when we need it we will get it, and who knows we might have got it already, NAF is buying and shopping this year 2016 worth millions of dollars, and a military radar rehabilitation budget has been made for 2016 worth millions of dollars to be funded by ministry of works under 'extra-budgetary defence spending'. Thutlwa detection max range 120 km 36D detection max range 175 km Finito. |

patches689: Nigerian Shilka has it's own mobile radar. GDF has it's own radar. Type 90 is a modern year 2000 air defense system and has ultra modern radar and computers and that has been posted here before. SANDF air defence does NOT exist, your Starstreak is a 1km ceiling anti-aircraft missile and your GDF guns are well integrated to kill SANDF troops operating them, wanna see that defenceweb news report again? SANDF anti-aircraft gun kills SANDF troops SANDF air defence = ZERO |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 5:42pm On Jan 26, 2016 |
patches689: 1. British army official website says SANDF version is old Starstreak with 1km max ceiling, even Togo republic will r.ape SANDF with Alpha jet 2. SANDF has NO Skyshield and AHEAD ammo as at today 2016, yes anybody can buy new things, Nigeria can buy Pantsir SAM/CRAM in 2016. SANDF GDF gun kills it's own soldiers/operators, makes the Thutlwa radar useless, since your air defence gun is suicidal to use . |

patches689: It's a bad week for Patches, your source is TOTALLY outdated. NAF engineers have locally weaponized and militarized our new American Alpha jets, we bought 4 of them, 2 have landed and are now fully armed, tested, weapons fired, combat capable, and deployed in war zone. It's a bad week for you and your old time outdated report of NAF having only 7 aircraft .....shame on you all, shame on South Africans Nigerian Airforce reconfigures Trainer aircraft bought from USA ON JANUARY 26, 20161:21 PMIN NEWSCOMMENTS By Kingsley Omonobi-Abuja ________________________________________________________ As part of efforts to attain self sufficiency in the maintenance of aircraft needed for training of fighter pilots, the Nigeria Airforce has successfully reconfigured two (2) demilitarized Alpha jets in its inventory for combat roles in the North East and other operations. Making the disclosure Tuesday, Director of Airforce Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa said, “The Nigerian Air Force, in its bid for increased self-reliance, has successfully reconfigured 2 demilitarized Alpha Jet in its inventory that were hitherto acquired without weapon delivery capability. “The 2 aircraft are among the 4 Alpha Jets bought from the United States in 2015 by the immediate past administration to enhance the operational capability of the NAF to combat Boko Haram insurgency in the North East. “However, the aircraft could not be deployed to the theatre of operation before now due to the inherent weapon delivery deficiency hence its limited use for training purposes”, the statement said. “The urgent need, in recent times, to commit more NAF platforms to ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ to enhance the success of the counter insurgency operation necessitated the Service to look inward to seek ways of achieving its drive for self reliance through research and development” it added. “The NAF had earlier looked overseas for assistance without much success to get the aircraft reconfigured for combat roles. A number of vendors invited to Nigeria to assess the platforms had concluded that it would be difficult or almost impossible to undertake the project since the original equipment manufacturer had long closed down the production line”. “A few others who agreed to the possibility of having the aircraft reconfigured to carry munitions also submitted proposals for initial assessment fees ranging from $20,000 – $30,000 before they could come up with the actual cost of the project. “Convinced that the project would work, the NAF consequently assembled a team of technicians to develop a feasible model for the project. The weapons model worked on ground, and the weapons has since been mounted on the Alpha Jets, and test flown successfully. “This feat is a major research and development breakthrough for the NAF and the Nation as a huge foreign exchange saver given that the project only cost about N400, 000.00 compared to what would be required to have it done abroad” the statement concluded. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/01/nigerian-airforce-reconfigures-trainer-aircraft-bought-from-us/ South African air force officers CANNOT even add one weapon to your SAAF jets, you need European manufactures to do EVERYTHING for your dullard Zulu-Bantu-Cape Colony military force of second dullest human beings on earth. Zimbabwe will beat SA in war, Southies are dullards. . 1 Like 2 Shares

Henry240: I am convinced that: 1. NAF can arm Gulma drones with very light weight guided missiles or unguided folding fin rockets all home made. 2. NN can locally build modern fast attack crafts and and arm them with missiles/main guns from China 3. NA can build 70mm mobile rocket launchers at home and mount on Igirigi, we can also build Igirigi 120mm mortar carrier variants at home Lightly armed Gulma UAV would be great for NA, imagine a squadron of 24 such Gulma drones all over NE all owned by Nigerian army |

agaugust: -Gulma's to carry that load would need to increase their overall size. It won't be a challenge for NAF to arm them. The tech exists. - for vessels, we have a wide array of companies that can deliver. It is in this area were i am most confident of our abilities to deliver. - this is another area where we can comfortably deliver. Proforce Defence offers N.A a wide range of high quality platforms. Proforce Leopard, Proforce Viper, the Igirigi could be configured to look like this (Pic). The possibilities are looking limitless!

jln115: Yes we dont have any junk fighters because we dont buy junk, you are right on that. Aircraft and air base have universal standard radio comms and some as much ranged as much as 50km to 300 km, or how do you think pilots of NAF talk base sending reports from combat zones, pilots can IFF with base using daily changed passwords. There was a time IFF did not exist on base radars anywhere in the world, yet pilots and base ID each other with ease, only a mörön thinks its rocket science to communicate. |
