The SAAF capability Demo is the closest thing to a real battlefield without actually being in a real battlefield!! Or should we go bomb Lesotho to become more experienced in your opinion??

Didn't take the inexperienced USAF to decimate the much much more Experienced Iraqi Air force!!

Come stand in an open field and lets see if our "inexperienced" Hawk or Gripen pilots will miss you. I'll pay for your plane ticket. There is not one single thing that any Nigerian fighter pilot has done in the past 5 years, that SAAF pilots havent been doing in training for years. NAF pilots face no sophisticated anti aircraft systems, face no enemy pilots in the sky. Which country is most likely to have its pilots poached by other airforces? SAAF or NAF? Why would Australia poach our Hawk pilots if we are inexperienced and useless? If you know the answer to that question you'll realise that sometimes its best to keep quiet.

Australia has been poaching white South-Africans since like forever. It's not just pilots. How many Black South-Africans are in the RAAF?

First off, how many bleks are even flying in your air force, next to none!

Black SAAF pilots are poached by the likes of South African Airways. White SAAF pilots know its a much tougher road to becoming a Captain in SAA than it was 20 years ago, hence they jump ship overseas. Australia, UAE, UK, New Zealand etc. Reply to this message 50 years from now when such countries would ever consider hiring a Nigerian Air Force pilot. If the SAAF is useless then there isnt an English word in the dictionary that describes how pathetic the NAF is.

There is not one single thing that a NAF fighter pilot (with all his fake experience) can do, that a SAAF pilot cannot do....even better.

FACTS AND OPINIONS

AFRICA DAY - WHO REALLY HAS THE BIGGEST ECONOMY?

Much has recently been made of reports that Egypt has overtaken South Africa as Africa’s second largest economy and that we have now slipped to third place - with Nigeria in first place. All this has added to South Africa’s sense of national decline - after having prided ourselves for so long as being in an unassailable position as the continent’s largest economy. Commentators must now console South Africans with the reassurance that we are still the most “highly industrialised” economy in Africa.

The relative size of economies is generally measured by assessing their Gross Domestic Products on a PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) basis - which irons out kinks caused by the differences between official exchange rates and the actual purchasing power of the currencies involved.

In terms of PPP GDP China in 2015 already had the largest economy in the world - US$ 19,392 billion, (17% of global PPP GDP) compared with the EU at US$ 19,205 billion and the United States at US$ 17,947 billion. India was next with US$ 7,965 billion.

The largest economy in Africa was Nigeria at 22nd position in the world with a PPP GDP of US$ 1 092 billion. Egypt, at 23rd place, had a slightly smaller PPP GDP of US$ of 1 048 billion. South Africa limped in at third place in Africa and 30th place in the world with a PPP GDP of US$ 724 billion.

But it was not always thus. Nigeria suddenly assumed the leading position in 2014 after recalculating the basis on which its GDP was assessed, increasing it overnight by 89%.

The new figures were apparently verified by the IMF and the World Bank. However, if one considers other core factors relating to the Nigerian and South African economies, some of the statistics just don’t seem to add up. So, for example, the Nigerian Federal budget in 2014 was US$ 30,4 billion compared with South Africa’s budget the same year of US$ 115 billion.

Consider also the fact that South Africa with its 54 million people consumes more than 10 times as much electricity as Nigeria with its 177 million people. South Africa’s consumption of 234 million MW hours/year was the 15th highest in the world. We have over 2 000 shopping malls (the 6th highest number in the world) compared with 12 - 15 in the whole of Nigeria. Our exports and imports in 2013 amounted to US$ 198 billion compared with Nigeria’s total trade of US$ 135 billion. 90% of Nigeria’s exports were oil and oil products - which have fallen by more than 40% in the past two years.

In 2015 South Africa produced 615 000 motor vehicles and we had 165 cars per 1000 people. Nigeria had 31 cars per 1000 people. Nor is it a question of Nigeria having a prosperous rural farming sector. 62% of the population live below the international poverty datum line of US$ 1,25 per day - compared with 9.4% of South Africa’s population.

Also, in terms of financial services South Africa appears to be far in the lead. The value of shares on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange is US$ 790 billion, compared with the US$ 47 billion on the Lagos Exchange. South Africa’s banks and financial services are also rated amongst the best in the world by the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report.

Egypt probably has a better claim to being the continent’s largest economy. Its budget is US$ 85 billion and its foreign trade was US$ 97 billion. It has 28 Cars per 1000 people. However, only 1.2% of its population live below the US$ 1,25 poverty line - which means that there is a much higher general level of prosperity among its people than there is in South Africa.

What it comes down to is the need to be skeptical about statistics. As one commentator observed, they are like bikinis - more important for what they conceal than what they reveal. Nevertheless, whatever South Africa’s real economic ranking in Africa may be, we are slipping with each year that passes. During the past three years the Sub-Saharan economy has grown by an average of 4.5% compared with South Africa’s growth of only 1.3% in 2015 - and projected growth of 0.4% this year.

Another long narrative of tears and frustration!!!

South Africa belongs to the past; it's over.

Whether you measure it by PPP or GDP per capita or raw GDP, south Africa is number 3 economy in Africa.

It will affect your geopolitical tentacles,
It will stiffle your foreign policies
It will muffle your voice internationally

Let all the top multinationals and auto and defence industries come and domicile in south Africa, as long as your no. 3 economy in the Africa, you're bleeped.

Learn to live with your sorrows and frustrations.

Painting it with colours of desperation lives you looking stupider than you were before you began your rants of feverish delirium.

Thiza! Thiza!! Thiza!!! Na wa for you oooh! See as the thing just dey bite you for body! Hehehehe! Oooo my my my!

Anyway, the guy no dey even contribute anything. Him own na to just dey post external materials. Hehehe!!! Hmmm, my God!

This post of yours reminds me of a loser attitude we have here in Nigeria. When the Super Eagles' qualification for a major competition hangs in the balance and is no longer in our hands, that's when we begin to do some funny mathematical calculations to see how we can still qualify! It is then you begin to hear something like: "if be beat Algeria in our last game and Angola looses to Zimbabwe by 10 goals to nil, then we can still qualify". The point is...when we were suppose to win our matches and top the table, we won't do that; but when we've fumbled all through the major part of the qualification process and our fate doesn't lie in our hands anymore, that's when we resort to the funny mathematical calculations.

It is the same thing you and your Dave are doing here too. The time you toped us by GDP, you guys did not bring up all these "funny calculations" and other perspectives; but as soon as you lost out in the GDP metrics, you started resorting to the other "funny calculations".

Like i said, this is a loser attitude and if you like, don't get up on your feet and start doing something about your dwindling economy. The likes of Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and even this small "notice me" Ghana, who lives in our backyard, will come fling you guys off that 3rd position you are managing to hang on to.

You think hating on Naija will pull you out of your own self-imposed economic quagmire. Keeping hating on us while Botswana, your neighbour, keeps beefing up its airforce with the acquisition of more Grippens so as to come establish air dominance with impunity in your own airspace, unseat Zuma, sack all democratic institutions and annex the whole country.
