@davillian This is the advice you should follow.
No O, I've never gone to the hospitals before to fix any bone injuries.
I've twisted my left wrist
Dislocated both elbow joint
Dislocated my right toe,
I've broken my left hand
And dislocated both ankles.

All were fixed locally by Aboki and u won't notice any sign works has been done on any of my bones.
They function properly.
I hate the POP SHIT.

Go to a traditional orthopedic personnel. They do this type better than the Doctors. Here in Benue, we have a lot of them and they perform well.

Good morning dear nairalanders

Please I want you to advise me...

On June 3, 2017, I fractured my left wrist in a minor accident.

4 days later, I went to the orthopaedic hospital & they placed POP on it.

On July 21, 2017. The POP was removed & I could see my hand very tiny compared to the right hand. But as time goes on it keeps looking healthier just like the right hand.
The doctor recommended some drugs for me (which I'm still taking till today)

I visit the hospital every time for my checkup. But the doctor keeps telling me that the wrist is still undergoing CONSOLIDATION stage.

This is my major concern... My wrist which I highlighted in the below pics, is that how it'll look deformed or what?

What could be the exact problem?

I think you got a Colles fracture that wasn’t properly reduced. You probably fell on outstretched hands and the two of the forearm bones that joined your wrist fractured and your wrist bent outwards.

Have you got an X-ray of that wrist?

After the POP, did you have any Xray exam done on your wrist?

This is called malunion. The fracture healed but healed wrongly.

With due respect I think people should stop advising traditional bone setters, they have done monumental damage to people's limbs which I have seen many times. Many people lost their limbs as a result of blind management of fractures, lack of anatomy knowledge and lack of knowledge of biomechanics etc. Open fractures have turned infected and leading to death or limb loss. In this day and age we shouldn't be talking about traditional bone setters. We should embrace health insurance so that we can be able to afford hospital treatment. And we should not attend quack hospitals where they know next to nothing. Orthopaedic hospitals should be attended if they are close to you. Fractures can be simply treated most times, only few requiring surgery, and no hospital will cut off your limb just because you have fracture. That's the myth wrongly spread about by traditional bone setters which is not true.

I have same issue on same wrist. They cast pop on my wrist and after removing it the bone was still poked out.

Whoever did that should have his certificate withdrawn. Your type of injury and that of the op should have Xray imaging done to see the type and severity of fracture.

Bones must be reduced properly and that can only be done if the orthopaedic surgeon is properly guided by the imaging.

Wrist fractures are quite tricky. If the bones are not properly aligned before the POP, it’d heal with a funny angulation or deformity.

Pls people should visit orthopaedic hospitals and there must be imaging of affected body part.

DONT GO TO TRADITIONAL HEALERS.

Mine is d 4 fourth finger and it doesn't give me any discomfort so I have no cause for worries. cheesy
It got bent when I held unto a bus conductor cloth for refusing me my balance, all I knew was I heard a snapping sound when he forcefully dragged his cloth from my grip, I didn't wince in pain o instead I held him again with d 2nd hand till people nd d driver intervened.
It was not until I got to work that I knew what happened to me and that area(lekki) it was hard getting a balm to massage it immediately not until I got home and that's d result u see there...

I had almost thesame case with yours... It will gradually straighten up... Don't just Miss handle it... Don't use the hand to carry heavy things yet... It's gradually... Though it can never remain thesame again but it will definitely be strong and nobody will understand that it was fractured. And I hope an x-ray was done?

This is problem with hand injuries, very delicate to manage and gives deformity that impairs function if not properly managed. Nigeria needs specialised hand surgeons to treat these problems. Many of them cannot be corrected after many weeks of neglect or poor management. Some of these injuries require simple treatments like a splint or manipulation etc. Unfortunately the awareness is not very high in Nigeria.

The dinner fork deformity of Colles fracture still obvious. An X-ray will show Mal-union or non union. The fracture was not reduced.

I have done something before that worked. Use ear wick moistened with clean water and instill water into the ear while lying in bed and head turned sideways. Leave the water in the ear for some time to moisten the cotton wool inside, say 20 minutes. Then turn the head round and gently slap the ear on the pillow a few times, the wet cotton wool should fall out, unless something else is blocking your ear. Most times wax causes this problem. Good luck.

GO TO A PHYSIOTHERAPIST TELL HIM TO BRAKE THE HAND AND RE SET IT AGAIN

that's not easy at all
it once happened to my younger bro and he was told the same thing
but come to think of it if the hand got dislocated involuntarily and it caused an enormous amount of pain then imagine the level of pain it would cause when its now done voluntarily

I don't see this as the best solution
a right surgery process will do the work

Your hand is swelling especially the left side and I can see the bone has shifted sending healing and prayers your way also see if you can apply some ointment or ice pack to the affected area do you have any pain still ?

I can recommend a good physiotherapist
