This government is a failure , the same social media you use to win election , is now you don't want to see again . Whether you like it or not , social media must stay . A government without vision or mission , except propaganda . 3 Likes |

chloride6: You can block everything. Google is heavily censored in China. In China, WhatsApp has been blocked on many occasions. In fact, I know when it is available an administrator of a group chat is held responsible for whatever is discussed within the group. The Whitehouse threw out news media not favourable to it. So spare me this talk of democracy when we are amongst the worst purveyors of free speech. |

onegig:while I will not go so far to say that gej was a definition of democracy but it is a fact that: 1.) gej was far more democratic and tolerant in his style of leadership than buhari. 2. in all economic indices, so far, gej did far better than buhari, even in the agro sector that they have been parroting as the replacement for oil, gej did far better. 3. gej's appointees were corrupt, but even buhari who came in with the mantra of anti corruption has not done better, we have heard of budget padding, mainagate, the former sgf scandal and as we speak they have not been able to successfully prosecute any corrupt official and the ones in his admin seems to get a free pass. 3 Likes |

Rapmoney: Go and sit down. China that suits many of you heavily censor Google and it is almost non-existent there. How many intellectuals do we have in comparison to China? Your society is more concerned with misinformation but you want the government to look like a helpless leper. |

GavelSlam: For everything you ban in China there is an alternative, Facebook for Weibo etc. You have the guts to mention Nigeria that can not yet produce electricity for her citizens in the same sentence with china. We can't even run a refinery which properly. So your dream if blocking all is a pipe dream. Besides, Is Nigeria China? Does this look like a one party socialist state? I know the concept of democracy is a little too complex for you to grab so I'll spare you the importance of free speech in democracy. You can keep your Aso rock correspondence. Who Aso rock correspondence help? Sowore does need to enter Aso Rock to make the government shit its pants. 3 Likes |

chloride6: Good since Nigeria is not China what concept are you then trying to follow? This is the Nigerian model. As long as Nigerians prefer to tell bold-faced lies about everything and anything then the government reserves the right to censor fake news. Only now would you realise technology can also be used to censor technology. |

GavelSlam: Like I said,it's all a pipe dream. Start with the most effective way to reach people in Nigeria: Facebook groups Let's see you turn those threats into actions. Besides, all we need is the court of law to set precedence in these kind of cases and all this nonsense will stop. Even Russia, is not repressive enough to proceed on this type of madness. 1 Like |

GavelSlam:Why are citing china which is communist state as an example. It still bother me how guys like u, buhari, tinubu n co still use 10th century mentality to lead people in 21st century. Who do you think is in control of cnn n bbc which are top notch media outfit. Now i give u example how finland control what their people listen to. Everyday in finland, there is free newspaper found almost everywhere especially in busy areas where people can get news at tips of their fingers. 2 Likes |

sean079: Free news is limited news. That's not to say it is bad but you must realise that is indirect censorship as the news is mostly nationalistic. In UK you get the Metro and Evening Standard free newspapers which can only give you news of limited scope. |

Re: FG Clamps Down On Online Newspapers, Blogs And Websites by chloride6: 6:41pm On Nov 05, 2017 |
GavelSlam: How you can compare Social Media and Armed robbery is once again just wonderful. Armed robbery is globally accepted to be a vice, social media is not. Even the USA can't stop ISIS propangada, how much more Nigeria. Don't hide under the umbrella of Boko Haram to cover the fact that this Administration has failed and can not stand the constant criticism of this press. It is not in the place of the executive to clamp down on the same Media that scrutinizes them as there is a conflict of interest. You may disagree if you have no integrity. 1 Like |

chloride6: You are simply talking without reason. The government has decided it would clamp down on any form media found to threaten national security. Why this is troubling to you really baffles. Since you've decided USA cannot stop ISIS propaganda should Nigeria simply collapse in complete acceptance? It is government's first duty to protect the integrity of the nation and that they MUST do. |

GavelSlam: Forgive me if I cannot trust this Administration not to use the excuse of National Security to suppress the Media. It has shown countless times that it is a lawless adminstration. It flagrantly disobeys court orders and operates like a dictatorship. It is only expected that patriotic citizen look out for the signs of repression that are common in dictatorships. |
