Idps Are Being Raped – Nigerian Govt Raises Alarm Over HIV/AIDS Rate by Ebisco016: 10:07am On Nov 05, 2017 |
Head, Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Rehabilitation of the Presidential Committee on North-east Initiative (PCNI), Dr. Sidi Ali Mohammed, has attributed the increasing rate of HIV/AIDS in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in the North-east to rampant cases of rape. Ali Mohammed spoke on the sidelines of a PCNI meeting in Abuja. He, however, assured that the security sub-committee of PCNI is working round the clock to ensure more places that are liberated were getting the humanitarian assistance they need. “The major challenge for us in the health sector especially in the north east is that of human resource for health. Don’t forget, at the beginning of the insurgency, the first people that were attacked are the teachers and the health care workers”, Thisday quoted him as saying. “They were killed, and naturally they are the first set of people to run away from the communities. Even before the insurgency, the north east has the worst maternal mortality, not only in Nigeria but the world over. “I also admitted the fact that our camp coordination and management for now is very weak and therefore those people who are in the camp now are taking advantage of the people. So we intend to get it right by developing a humanitarian response plan for 2018 and 2019.” “In that document, we need to capture aptly, what we think we need to do, to be able to bring a stop or put a stop to this situation of rape cases we see and increase in the rate of HIV/AIDS, that we are also noticing. “Now as we speak, we have a lot of people coming to us to say we want to renovate your primary care center, we want to put drugs. But the people, the health workers that will work in these facilities are not there. For example, if you need to achieve reduction in maternal mortality, the group of health care workers that you need are the mid-wives. “I can tell you, using Adamawa for example, Adamawa will need about three thousand plus mid wives today as we speak to be able to get to the minimum number they have. But what do we see in their school of nursing. Their school of nursing can only graduate fifty students at a time, in a year.” “if you divide that by three thousand plus, you are going to get thirty something years, it will take Adamawa state assuming their population is static. But dont forget, the population will continue to increase, because even the North is unfortunately has the highest fertility rate again in the world, one of the highest fertility rate in the world, about 4.5%. “So we need to get those people into those facilities, if at all our women would stop dying because they want to bring a baby into this world. Pregnancy is a thing of joy and therefore no woman, I repeat; no woman should die because she wants to bring a baby into this world.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2017/11/idps-are-being-raped-nigerian-govt.html

Gowon's timidity and lack of character and principles led to the civil war. Gowon encouraged the genocidal massacre of more than 60,000 Igbos in cold blood in Northern Nigeria. Now his people are still being killed by those who used him to sustain this shithole called Nigeria. There were 2 problems. Killing of Igbos in the North was one. No 2, Ojukwu was senior to Gowon and would never take orders from his junior. But the Hausa/Fulani have had a long history of disregard for principles and standing due process on its head. They forced Gowon as the head of the Supreme Military council. Ojukwu laughed at their stupidity but didn't want war. He and Ojukwu went to Aburi in Ghana at the behest of the international community's mediatory efforts in a bid to hold a round table meeting to avert the war. Sincere agreements were reached and so the Aburi accord was signed. Confederation of the various units and resource and territorial control with a weaker administrative center. If Nigeria had stood by the Aburi accord, we would have been 100 times richer than we are now. What did the block head do? Immediately he came back, he reneged on the agreement he signed the previous day. Thereby creating a point of no return by both parties. As part of the Aburi accord, igbo soldiers in the North were to be allowed to come back to the east with their weapons while nothern soldiers in the SE were to be allowed to go back with their weapons. The SE complied in good faith but the North collected the weapons of the Igbo soldiers, lined ghem up against a wall and executed all of them. Their bodies were sent back in trucks and train cargo cabins. Gowon's lack of the character required for leadership of the military is the reason why Nigeria can never, and will never be one. His place in history is assured. They say he kept Nigeria as one but I say he consolidated the Norths right to assist the British in plundering southern resouces; their right to refuse education and maintain the lowest cut off marks in Africa; their rights to still come and insist on ruling without certificates and kill the merit system. We love deceiving ourselves in Nigeria. It's a way of life. Let me tell you, Nigeria is not progressing in any way. Nigeria, Malaysia and South Korea are contemporaries. Dubai of the UAE was founded in 1971. 11 years after "we started ruling ourselves". And here in 2017, we are still looking for restructuring. Nigerians are funny! Isn't it the same restructuring that was in the Aburi Accord? We are still talking about missing billions of dollars and Fulanis supported and protected by government to kill other Nigerians. What a shame! As long as Nigeria remains 1 with the inclusion of the North, there will never be progress. Mark my words. They don't want to make progress. That's why they will forever hold on to lowest cut off marks. But they want to continue ruling. Can you give what you don't have We need to go back to regionalism. Every region develop at your own pace and fund yourselves. No region should be allowed to use their illiteracy and willful backwardness, and unwillingness to work hard and succeed to drag others back. Restructure now or divide Nigeria. There is no future for Nigeria as presently structured. |

That's life, we pay for every of our life mistakes...Igbos paid the price. Hausa/Fulani are now paying the price for killing innocent unarmed Igbo civilians they killed in 1966 pogrom....through Boko Haram which no one can explain. Tiv and Idoma people are also paying the price of involving in that 1966 pogrom as Fulani herdsmen keep murdering them in their own home. In life, you must pay for every wrong you do whether you repent or not. I am not against killing of Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi in the counter coup....i am not against killing any Igbo soldier in the counter coup because that's part of every military coup; soldiers kill soldiers, but I am totally against involving innocent unarmed civilians living peacefully in your region during your military-political power tuzzle, which was where the north got it wrong and still getting it wrong. North must learn not to involve ordinary civilians in issues of national politics. If you kill innocent unarmed person in life, u must pay for it, more especially, if u kill a visitor, a sojourner living in your land, nature hates it, God hates it, if you kill someone who did you no wrong just because someone from his tribe or race or region wronged you, nature will reward you in many ways, nature can reward you by putting enemity and sword between your children so that your children will turn enemies and kill each other as we can see happening with Boko Haram. As we can also see happening between Tiv, Idoma and Hausa/Fulani. Plateau people vs Hausa/Fulani too....these people were close allies before the civil war, but today, nature has put enemity between them and they now fight each other every now and then. My people desist from shedding innocent blood but if anybody attack you, defend yourself to live! |
