Comr Emmanuel Ugochukwu Ike
'An Abia Youth To Watch'[/b][b][/b][b][b][/b][i][/i]

Emmanuel Ugochukwu Ike was the Student Union Government (SUG) President of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, Imo State for the 2015/2016 academic session.

I was privileged to be his Media Aide during his tenure. Most of his programs/activities I covered.
Having work for him and with him as I was the Director of Publicity of Mass Communication Department then, I confirmed again that "Leaders are Made not Born".

Ike, is one leader that demonstrated practical humility all throughout his tenure as the number one citizen of FEDPONEK students as he constantly reminds fellow students that his being the SUG president was just a privileged which they bestowed on him through their votes at the pools. This mandate he never abused but held it with high regards as not to fail the expectations of those who voted him into office.
Little wonder he achieved a lot in his one year stay as the SUG president. Just to mention a few of his striking achievements, Emmanuel had the following achieved in his tenure:

1. The purchase of a new Bus for the SUG Fedponek

2. Foundation laid down for the first ever SUG canteen in Fedponek

3. Attracting The Imo state Government's Aid to the rehabilitation of the Naze-Nekede-Ihiagwa road(This was achieved after his stratergized peaceful talk/protest with the Imo State government as regards the bad condition of the road then which was a big burden to the staff & students of Federal PolytechnicNekede and FUTO. The SUG president of FUTO then was also very instrumental to this success)

4. 100% Peace on Campus

5. Enhanced Management & Students Relationship

6. Attracting Glo, Etisalat for shows in fedponek which always bring mouth watering benefits to the students. One of the students once won A car from such contest even while many smiled home with Laptops and phones including those who were engaged as ADOHC staff during these periods.

7 The male & Female hostels retouch

8. Seminars & Conferences organized in his team synergy with an Alumnus, Comrade Bekee Chidiebere that splashed scholarships on students who participated in the essay competition remain legacies which keep speaking for as an ex student leader of the most sorth fate polytechnic in Nigeria.

However, Emmanuel as the SUG President broke a jinx and set records that I will be glad to see the next president that will break it.
He despite his busy schedules of combining unionism with his academics remain studious that gave him an amazing result as he made DISTINCTION in his department.

Again, th Rector of FEDPONEK, Dr. Mrs. Celestina Ugochi Njoku who is a rewarder of hard work, awarded him with cash prize at the 19th convocation of the institution having affirmed that his administration gave her & the entire management total peace.
A Golden fish cannot be hidden, these was how he was fetched out to Serve in Fedponek. And I know that he won't be hidden for too long as our country, Nigeria and my state Abia needs his type for a good, progressive and people oriented government.

Leadership is not by height, or age but by what you can the deliver.

It's time we make a search for the right people in Abia state especially. It's time we begin to recognize our own who are silent but action oriented.
