JikanBaura: I am not speaking about other ethnic groups. I am talking about/referring to the Fulani living in Taraba. They DO speak Fulfulde. One of the members on Nairaland here, another Fulani guy, Bororojo was from Taraba, and he spoke perfect Fulfulde. He was the one who even informed me that in Taraba state, that the Fulbe there also speak Fulfulde as their main tongue not Hausa. The other groups you listed, the non-Fulbe (non-Fulani) DO however, speak Hausa as their main tongue. |

Fulaman198: I never said Fulani in Nigeria are off same clan or speaks desame FulFulde dialect. What I said if you don't get it Is that the Fulani jahadist came from North west sOkoto caliphate, mostly from Gwandu and Sokoto and conquered the Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe any Fulani that came to these places and is not from sOkoto came later after the jahad. You know what I'm saying. |

Fulaman198: Speaking FulFuldE as their main tongue doesn't mean they didn't speak a Hausa..The problem is none Fulani don't speaks the Fulfulde language. So Fulani will speak to them in the language everybody understand which is Hausa. In Kebbi state .. This LGA Gwandu ,Dakin gari/zaga and BagudO/Ka'Oje tO mention few they all speaks Fulfulde as their main language and they speaks hausa to. 1 Like |

Fulaman198 I think brother what you intend to say is that the North east FULANI still retained much more of the Fulani culture and language in the city than their brothers in North west and that's a good thing alots of people thought Fulani speaks only hausa which is not far from the truth. They might thought that way maybe because they interact only with Fulani in the city . Even in the North west Kebbi, zamfara, sokoto,Katsina state Fulani still do speak their Fulani language. The logical reason why Hausa language have less impacted on Fulani (North East Nigeria) was because when the caliphate expand to North East the Hausa language had little influence or less impacted on Fulani also probably their might be some kind of second/third wave of Fulani cattle Rearers from all angles whom had settled their after the expansion. :oI disagree their are more Fulani or Fulfulde speakers in North East than in North west. It's a portion of Fulani and Hausa in North west that creat the North east Fulani caliphate. Everybody that succeeded in his jahad must return home to summit his jahad Flag. Brother In my opinion their are more FulFuldE (Fulani language speakers) in North west than their are Fulani FulFuldE speakers in North East.Go tO Fulani villages all around Kebbi, Sokoto, zamfara, Katsina you will attest to what i said. But Ofcause the Fulani in cities tend to speak only HAUSA (faults are to their grandparents who don't teach their children so their grand-children grow speaking only Hausa,(I'm a case in point). In the North East it's not the case cuz FulFuldE is spoken widely spoken in the cities. Give my words thought 2 Likes |

JikanBaura: Ok bros, I will do some research about what you are saying as I have never stayed extensively in the NW, I have been to Sokoto but not really to a village. Thanks! I will go sooner or later 1 Like |

JikanBaura: Exactly, I keep wondering when people say North-east hv more native Fulfulde speakers than Northwest, afterall in Northeast you only hv significant Fulani populations in Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe. But in Northwest you hv significant populations in all the states including Kaduna State. Almost 30% (thats btw 800000-1000000ppl) of Kano North district (which is a district consisting of only 13 out of 44 LGA of Kano State) consist of Native fulfulde speakers, and the entire Fulani in Taraba are not morethan a Million likewise those in Gombe, those in Adamawa may be btw 1.5-2million, I served in the Northeast, Taraba to be precise so I know enough about the Fulani over there. 1 Like |

Fulaman198:^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ @Fulaman198 Brilliant info... Mallam Nasir El-Rufai said on Channels TV crew[Maupe, Chamberlain] in 2016 during the Kaduna Economic Summit that his ancestors came into present-day Nigeria from Futa Jallon in Guinea, West Africa. He gave this info while talking about how the Fulani herdsmen got their weapons. 1 Like 1 Share |

Baaballiyo: Bro what you said is true Fulfulde speakers in North East are in no way larger than the North west Fulani Speakers. The only reason they might see it that way is because in Gombe and Adamawa FulFulde is the language of governing and commerse more prominently FulFulde is and must outside tribes that came from neighboring state which they interact with are Hausa speaking states We know in the North-west, Fulani are the second largest ethnic group, only after hausa and their are alots of minority tribes that also speaks hausa Some can't speaks their mother tongue too. Many of the Hausa people in North west Sokoto, Kebbi,Katsina, zamfara have Fulani blood , a person may tell you he is Hausa but if you did a little research you will find out one of their grandparent from both (father, mother) side is Fulani and some how they find somes Fulani looking people and be shocked that they can't speak Fulfulde but hausa. Must of Those are Fulani that their great grandparents are islamic schoolers and sacrifice their language for Islam because they very well comprehend that the best way to make a Hausa feel you are part of him is to love his language (In Nigeria it's only a Hausa that will call you Hausa just because you speaks his language) and will jokes that you are not hausa AMMA KAIBA BAHAUSHE BANE EVEN IF YOU ARE A TRUE HAUSA and so Fulani torobe Adopt Hausa which their great grandchildren speaks today. It's paid in all hausa states emirate Fulani are the rulling class except for Argungu Emirate and and their will never be revolt about Fulani are the Kings can't even imagine that Back to the topic, What people really don't understand even today Fulani in millions stills retain their language and Fulani majority of Fulani don't share villages with hausa but today Fulfulde is threaten by intermarriage. Really Fulani intermarriage with Hausa has affected the Fulani language because i don't know why Hausa will not want to speak any other language apart from his (tho we modern day Hausa we are learning to speak English) we don't really use English for me the only time i make use of the little English i know is is mostly on cyber place like this and during class. I'm my Hausa we have did so many Almajiri (students) that's are Hausa from Nijar but I was shocked not all of them can speaks French and I thought everybody from Niger Republic speaks French some taureg Almajiris we have don't speak French but they will say they will love to learn English I know some hausa that speaks Fulfulde tO but they're very few even them if you dig out their aren't really poor blooded Hausa they tend to have Fulani grandparents. Their are towns and Fulani villages that speaks hausa only as its second language, people who thinks that their are more Fulani speakers in east than in North west need to cruise around Kebbi, Sokoto, zamfara, Katsina,Kano Fulani don't share towns, villages with hausa their only place we all meat together is in the cities which hausa tends to own and they that said Fulani invention north west don't speaks FulFulde have only meet with Fulani of Hausa cities who because they grow up in the cities where every tribe Hausa,Zarma, dakarkari come together to govern and do business and Hausa language is the language we all agreed to use. In my state Kebbi state which is pretty much a Fulani state when ever their are 3,4 or 6 Fulani people in group conversation we the Hausa and Fulani that don't understand Fulfulde always end up hitting them lol Because they will always switch to Fulfulde language. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Fulaman198: Please do, and like i suggest you should visit Fulani towns in the city capital is a Place where all state indigenous tribes come together and you know hausa tend to originally own the capital so everybody adopt the language. Their are Fulani Local government and their towns and villages are Fulani majority their Fulfulde is the language If you again visited SOkoto you should also not left out Kebbi a very important part of Sokoto caliphate if not to exaggerate things we would have said Kebbi Gwandu LGA, Yauri LGA and BagudO LGA alone have more Fulfulde first speakers than Adamawa Lol You will be amazed by their number Fulani speakers we have over here. Come soon BrO |
