Ahead of the Anambra elections coming up on November 18th, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC said it would deploy no fewer than 300 dogs for the elections.

The NSCDC also added that about 11,000 personnel of their team will be on ground to ensure a free and fair election.

This was made known by the Commandant of the Corps in Anambra State while he was speaking to newsmen in the state capital.

He also disclosed that members of the Corps will be deployed from Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers, Edo, Delta and Imo specifically to monitor the elections.

Mr. John Ahwen who is the commandant further revealed that “four drones, ambulances and medical team as well as 115 vehicles, 15 of which would be deployed in the riverine areas of the state for the poll.”

He added that the Deputy Commandant-General in charge of Operations, Mr. Hillary Madu, would lead the operation and would be assisted by two Assistant Commandants-General.

He beckoned on the electorates in the state to bluff every form of intimidation and come out en-masse to participate in the election without any fear of molestation.

He said, “The people of the state should feel free and secure to exercise their franchise during the election because the security agencies are out to protect them.”

Meanwhile, still in a bid to ensure a free and fair election, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Umar, also ensured the electorates that proper policing will be in place during the polls.

In his words, “all stakeholders including politicians to should play according to the rules or be prepared to face the law.”

He also warned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who had threatened to disrupt the election in the state, to stay clear or be crushed.
