Ask Me Anything On Solar Power!!!!! by Holmes07(m): 10:39am On Nov 12, 2017 |
Good day romancelanders!!!! I'm Holmes07 the C.E.O of Crystal Solar Nigeria Limited ( meet us on facebook @ www.facebook.com/CrystalSolarNG), it is my pleasure to bring to your notice the services of Crystal Solar, we specialize in renewable energy chiefly solar Power installation and maintenance.. My mission here today is to create a discussion on solar power where you ask me anything on solar power and i will be glad to answer you. cc:airforce01 cc:lalasticlala cc:IamJ cc:Seun cc:farano cc:tosyne2much Before we procede to the discussion in proper, i'd like to briefly discuss how solar power works. Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV) or using concentrated solar power, concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam which are in turn used generate steam and then electric power, we will focus on the use of photovoltaics (PV) cells in this discussion. Photovoltaics involves using solar cell, or photovoltaic cell (PV), to converts sunlight light into electric current using the photovoltaic effect. For an individual to generate electricity using photovoltaics (PV) or solar cells one needs the followings: 1. Photovoltaic (PV) cells convert sunlight to direct current (DC) electricity. 2. Inverter converts DC into alternating current (AC) electricity. 3. Solar charge controller. 4. Battery(s) There are on-grid connection system and the off-grid connection system of solar power installation. On-grid system simply implies that your solar system is tied to your local utility company’s system. All this means for you is that your utility(like PHCN in Nigeria) system acts as your battery space. If you are producing more energy with your solar panels or system than you are using, the excess energy is sent to your grid’s power company, allowing you to build credit that you can cash out with at the end of the year, in a process called net metering. Being grid-tied is beneficial because you don’t have to buy an expensive battery back-up system to store any excess energy. Being off-grid means you are not connected in any way to your grid’s power system or utility company. This is appealing because you are 100% self-sustaining your energy use. However off-grid systems require you to purchase back-up battery which can be expensive and bulky. Thanks for your time, nw keep the questions rolling in!! I operate laundry shop with two pressing irons rated 1000w and 2800w, a ceilling fan(not sure of the wattage) , a water heater rated 1000w and an energy bulb of 85w. Would this solar energy be cost-effective for this scenario? How much would it cost to set it up?Mind you I pay between 2k to 3k per month to phcn. Thank you. |

jospepper: Bros even me wey no be professional go tell you say solar can sustain the level of watts you consume. Especially, when it is a laundry service. You use them constantly not sparingly, just stick to Nepa and Gen. 1 Like |

jerflakes:Well, there are solar cells for laptop only, although it's out of stock... A 200watts system which cost 140k should fit ur laptop nd oda light weight system.. Give me ur contact, when the solar cell for laptop only is available i'd let u knw.. |
Re: Ask Me Anything On Solar Power!!!!! by Holmes07(m): 1:40pm On Nov 12, 2017 |
greatnaija01:It depends on ur energy needs i.e the kind of appliance u run at home.. 600watts system which costs should fit a typical Nigerian two bedroom flat, it might cost up to 650k or below..... |

Mongol:The job of a Solar Engineer and that of an Electrician are similar but different. When you want to install a Solar system seek the service of a qualified solar engineer( like myself) and not an Electrician. Our page remains www.Facebook.com/CrystalSolarNG |

Good day, I bought your product Techfine 60A MPPT charge controller and seems to have some issue. I have three 320w solar panel connected in series to it and two 12v Tubular batteries connected in series to give 24v. The issue is, during the day (sunrise), the battery indicator shows full with 27.5v but immediately the sunset, the battery indicator drop by 1 bar on the charger controller. Is there any settings I should be look at. Please I need your technical advise. |

Is it expensive? I noticed there are more and more people who consider exactly solar panels for their households, I think financially it is very reasonable. Currently I am a client of Georgia Power and georgia power customer service , but I am thinking about green energy source more and more. |
