TEXT: "But Peter said, Ananias why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land."-Acts 5:3

Satan signifies an adversary, an enemy, and an accuser. Other names of Satan are: the dragon, the serpent, and the devil. The dragon signifies a destroyer, the serpent signifies a deceiver, and while the devil signifies a murderer.

Furthermore, Satan can change his form, 2 Corinthians 11:14. He deceives, Genesis 3:13. He is a thief; he steals, he kills, and he destroys, John 10:10. He is a murderer, John 8:44. He is an adversary, 1 Peter 5:8. He is an enemy, 1 Chronicles 21:1; Zechariah 3:1. And he is also an accuser, Job 1:6-12; Revelation 12:10.

In the beginning, Satan was made a beast called serpent, which was more subtile than any other beasts of the field which God made, Genesis 3:1. He was full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty, and every precious stone was his covering. He was perfect in his ways from the day he was created, until iniquity was found in him. He is represented in the Bible by the king of Tyrus, Ezekiel 28:11-19. And the seed of the serpent, Genesis 3:15, is represented by the prince of Tyrus, Ezekiel 28:1-10.

Before he was cursed by God, the serpent was a large aggressive animal with wings and a long tail, that can breath out fire from his mouth, Revelation 12:3, 9. And after he was cursed, he became an animal with a very long thin body and no legs, and very poisonous, Genesis 3:14.

Consequently, the iniquity found in the serpent deformed him. After he deceived the woman, God cursed him; and put enmity between him and the woman, and between his seed and her seed; and the seed of the woman shall give him a deadly wound on the head, and he shall also give a deadly wound to the seed of the woman on the heel, Genesis 3:14, 15.

Meanwhile, when the time of the promise drew near, which God made concerning the seed of the woman. In Revelation, a woman was pregnant with a child, and was ready to be delivered. The dragon, that old serpent in the garden, Genesis 3:1; Revelation 12:9, was waiting to destroy the child of the woman as soon as the child was born. And she gave birth to a man child, who was to rule all the nations of the earth with a rod of iron: and the child was caught up to God, and to his throne. And the woman fled to the wilderness, where a place was prepared for her, and she was fed for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

In another development, war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought back with his one-third of angels, but the serpent and his angels were cast out of heaven. In the past, Satan used to visit heaven before now, Job 1:6-12. But, after the war, he ceases to visit heaven. The dragon persecuted the woman who gave birth to the man child, to destroy her, but God helped her. And the serpent was angry at the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

However, the final destination of the dragon, after he must have been bound for a thousand years, that old serpent, which is called the Devil, and Satan, will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever, Revelation 20:1-3, 10.
