Well let’s be frank,you are not having diarrhoea today..or tomorrow,i just don’t want you to have in the future,which is why i wrote this article specifically for you.
Now let’s talk about diarrhoea.You’ve had diarrhoea,i have once,we’ ve all had diarrhoea, but what’s its cause.
Diarrhoea is a very common condition with many possible causes.Some causes might be food,infections,medications and symptoms of other diseases.
In this article dedicated to you,we will discuss some foods that cause diarrhoea,how to know if diarrhoea is food induced,treatment therapies and when to see your doctor.Here are the foods that may contribute to your diarrhoea.

1)SUGAR AND ARTIFICIAL SWEETNERS



Foods high in sugar can cause diarrhoea.As you consume food high in sugar,it enables water to enter intestine leading to loose stool.
For example,fructose found in fruits(Apple, Mango).The body can only digest a certain amount of fructose,any amount more than the level the body can digest may lead to diarrhoea.
According to Dr Norton Greenberger,a gastroenterologist and a Havard medical school professor,75% of people who ingest more than 40-50g of fructose per day will get diarrhoea.
Also,sweetners such as sorbitol,mannitol,xylitol found in gums and carbonated drinks can cause diarrhoea if consumed in large amounts . Therefore,endeavour to check the ingredients of any food labelled sugar free.

2)CAFFEINE



Life is a box of chocolates they said.But know that chocolate contains caffeine.Caffeine is a stimulant,and triggers the rate at which food moves through the intestine.Other foods high in caffeine are
■Coffee
■Soda
■Tea (some)

3)HIGH FAT AND SPICY FOOD



Spicy foods such as hot peppers,are very a common cause of diarrhoea.Foods high in fat also tend to cause diarrhoea because they are difficult for the body to process.

4)LACTOSE
Found in milk,yoghurt,cheese.People who are lactose intolerant(Cannot process lactose) may experience diarrhea when they consume diary products in large quantities.This is because the body can only process lactose one at a time.Lactose intolerance are known to be common amongst Blacks,Mexicans,Asians

5)FERMENTABLE CARBOHYDRATES
Foods like onions,garlic,beans are difficult for some people to digest and may cause diarrhoea . Following a food low ont he above category is difficult and advice may be seek.

6)SPOILED OR AGED FOOD
Food that have stayed long in refrigerator or undercooked may be contaminated with bacteria.Eating such food causes gastric infection which can lead to diarrhoea.

NOTE:To tell if your diarrhoea is food related,remember the following;
■Diarrhoea is unlikely to be related to food if there’s blood or stool in pus.
■Is accompanied by fever
■Occurs at high rate
