Their only crime was that they slept at entrance of Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode’s office during a protest to register their sufferings as people as residents of Otodo-Gbame community who were displaced from their place of abode early in 2017, but little did they know that 158 0f them dawn would be at the police station where they were detained after been arrested from government premises.

It was gathered that among the 158 residents, who were arrested by the law enforcement agency, includes a pregnant woman and two other female protesters.

Sources said that the protesters were arrested at about 12 am on Thursday while passing the night at the entrance of the State House, Ikeja.

It would be recalled that the protesters had vowed to pass the night at the office of the governor if their demands were not approved, after barricading the entrance to the governor’s office earlier on Wednesday.

The 158 were among the about 600 displaced residents, which include women and children, who marched to the office of the state governor to demand that they are resettled months after their community was pulled down by the government.

They were among the over 30, 000 residents of the community that were allegedly displaced after structures in their community were demolished.
