Few years ago, block interlocking tiles system of flooring the compound became popular in Nigeria because of the unprecedented beauty that it adds to buildings. Also, it became widely accepted because of availabilty of varieties of molds, arrangements and colourations to pick from to suit the fancy of house oweners.
Unfortunately, few years down the line, it was discovered that sometimes whenever a vehicle drives over interlocking blocks tiled floor after a heavy down pour, the floor becomes irreversibly disfigured because the areas passed by the tyre becomes dented in. To make matter worse, after a short while it was also noticed that grass start sprouting out of the ajournments of the interlocking block, which sometimes grow to becomes bush.
As a result of these problems and more, real estate developers started looking for a way to adopt the beauty and manipulability of interlocking block tiles and eradicating the problem assocted with it.
Consequently, exotic Concrete Stamped Floor method of flooring was born. It's fast becoming popular in Nigeria because it really adopts the beauty and versatility of the former, while the casting process eliminates the fragility that comes with that and make the latter product more durable and very strong.
However, the high cost of achieving it seem to be discouraging a lot of people that would have embraced the beautiful, solid and durable method of exterior flooring. It should be noted that the cost per square meter for conctrete stamped floor is: 6k for basic, 8k for standard, 10k for premium (extreemly beautiful).
Interesingly, the major components that make the over head cost of concrete stamped floor to be so expensive are the imported chemicals that are not being produced in Nigeria here. Some of these are: hardner, pigment/colouring agent, polishing agent, surface sealer, etc.. depending on the level of exposure and expertise of the person handling the project.
Fortunately, at just 3k per square meter, that is less than half the original cost of the exotic concrete stamped floor, you can still enjoy almost all the qualities, durability and beauty of concrete stamped floor only that their won't be addition of all those expensive imported chemicals. Some locally sourced colouration would be used and the product would still come out impressive. See pics below:
