For every mbbs aspirants who is discouraged, I wish you know the number of time I register for jamb because of medicine. I wrote UI putme 3 times. I didn't score less than 70% in each case. I failed jamb once, scoring 188. But I wasn't discouraged, I entered UI with 322 and 80% in utme and putme respectively. I failed oau putme once, scoring 183, I failed common Oau predegree entrance exam scoring 41%. Av scored stupid marks in jamb hoping to get medicine with 239, 240, 243. If you really want to be a doctor, get ready to be resilience. Even the challenges in medical school is more than challenges of gaining admission. You cant just give up now. I rejected two admission in UI, vet medicine and physiotheraphy. Take up yourself, you are not a failure until you quit trying. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Errmmmmm. I promised to update yesterday but was unable to due to low battery (the strike, UI no give us light till night) This write up might seem biased as I will be focusing more on the MBBS aspirants but I'd implore people from other departments to also read from it and learn one or two things. Firstly, I'd like to congratulate you all for making it this far. I tell you, writing UI postume (one of the hardest in the country) alone shows you're good because not up to half of those who pick the school as first choice get the opportunity to. To the MBBS aspirants, the nairaland community is proud of you, seeing y'all flood this place with high scores and aggregate alone is enough to give joy. However, it is sad to note that the increase in cut off marks affected most of you. Believe me, you tried. It's not easy to pull 70+ aggregate in ui's exam. Even me can't boast of doing that. but like you know, life has never been fair and I think it's showing you one of the unfair sides which will only tarry for a while. Free your mind from the shock, do not brood over it, enjoy yourself and think of solutions. On the issue of change of course, if you've scored 70+, you can be so sure that the university will fix you in another department provided you show interest by taking the change of course ( some of you might even be lucky to get juicy courses in college of medicine that haven't filled their quota and probably pharmacy). Please, the cut if mark for vet medicine is 60.25. it will be risky for you to change to vet with an aggregate less than 69. Those with aggregate less than that can change to courses in faculty of science, agric and renewable resources. (Note: you can apply to other departments but those are departments where you'll stand good chance of admission). To those that will change to vet with the mind if crossing to MBBS, congratulations. The university recently lifted the ban disallowing crossing from professional courses to professional courses. Meaning you can cross from vet to MBBS, dentistry to pharmacy and so on provided you meet up with the departmental requirements of the your intending department. For those that don't want any other course and will be applying again next year. I want you to weigh your chances well. Admission gets tougher year in year out. There is even possibility that you might not perform excellently like you did this year self. Even if you are not interested in the course, you can take it up for the main time while you process admission into your dream course (in another school). But if you feel you have what it takes to come back next year, please do. I have testimonies here To those that scored below 50, You really tried. Having the courage to pick UI is enough reasons to give you accolades. Your mark has shown your weaknesses. Try work on them, come back stronger and you'll see how simple UI exams will look. The truth is even me passed ui postume at my third attempt. I want you to see Your failure as a challenge that will gear you towards adequate preparations. Lastly, I felicitate with those who were were able to raise their heads above waters and those that will still join them (after change of course). I welcome you all to the first and best university in Nigeria . In all, I wish you all the best of luck in your endeavours. distinguished ladies and gentlemen, you can be rest assured of my best wishes. It's still the nairaland Taliban. 5 Likes |

Oga Nltaliban, thanks for this eye opener. Are you sure that one can now cross from one professional course to another professional course in UI? If this is true, don't you think it will be difficult to cross even after meeting the requirements considering the fact that other students will also have this in mind? I will like you to clear the ground on that crossing very well. How feasible it is, what requirements for it and other things on it. |
Re: UI 2018/2019 Admission Thread by Eben331: 5:51am On Sep 28, 2018 |
Sofia01:It is actually something painful and devastating to waste one's effort, energy and time without achieving what one has passion, zeal, interest in and always find joy in. I wouldn't like you to give up now or loss passion in that your dream course because it is not over until it is over. Actually, there is no great man that hasn't passed through failure in one way or the other. "No man has ever travelled the road of success without crossing the street of failure" and tough times they say it never last but tough people do. Don't quit now. I wish you success, good wishes and best of luck in your endeavours in life. 1 Like |
