There are strong indications that a former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme, is dead.
Daily Sun, the first newspaper to publish the news, quoted a statement issued from his family and signed by his brother and the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme, as saying that he died by 10:00pm in a London clinic, Sunday, November 19, 2017.

The statement read: “Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON.
“The sad event occurred at the London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017.”
It would be recalled, Ekwueme had collapsed in his Enugu residence, and immediately taken to the Memfys Neurosurgery Hospital Enugu, where he relapsed and went into coma.

Nigerians Vent DispleasureTo Buhari’s Announcement Of Ekwueme’s Medical Treatment Abroad
As soon as he was stabilised in the hospital he was flown to London in an air ambulance last week.
Prior to his travel abroad, scores of apparently cheesed off Nigerians had vented their displeasure at President Muhammadu Buhari for announcing that he had approved a foreign medical treatment for the former vice-president.
While a segment of Nigerians lauded Buhari for the move, others saw it as having a political undertone and another reminder about the country’s lack of adequate medical services.
