he Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, yesterday said it is not considering any working relationship with other political parties for the purpose of contesting the 2011 general elections. The decision of the party to go it alone has already dampened the efforts of several months by different opposition political parties to float an all embracing platform to be known as Mega Party. The CPC is the political platform of former Head of State and two-time Presidential Candidate of the All Nigeria People Party, ANPP, Major General Mohammadu Buhari, which has been one of the major allies in the Mega Party arrangement. CPC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Dennis Aghanya, who came out with the position of the party in a statement said the party is not willing to fuse with any other political party, at least for the purpose of contesting the 2011 general elections. According to him, “we do not wish to fuse into any other political party”. Rather, our leaders are dialoguing with other political parties that have compatible political ideologies with us, to form a broad based platform on mutually agreed terms, for the purpose of re-defining and balancing political competitions in Nigeria, on ideological basis”. If one want to see or know what the embodiment of failure is, in the Northern Political context, Buhari is a classical case. He overthrew a legitimate civilian goverment which is the most idiotic thing to do, even the most silly of men will hesistate doing such brazen and callous mutiny in a world where the gospel of democracy is preached to the high heavens. When he thought he was settled, salivating at his own thaught, ready to tuck into that gravy train called the treasury he got swept away by a bunch of trusted brigands, clearly this unsettled soul has unfinish business. Nigerians are now use to seen his picture every 4 years clamouring and beckoning to the public to vote for Buhari. This gaunt looking scare crow is now part of the Nigerian electioneering lexicon, even if he chose to stand down or better still goes six feet under, there would still be a sizable number of electorates who have seen this spectacle called Buhari as the best clown in town, after all who is going to amuse them during electionnering. |
