These are supposed to be independent institutions so a clash is not unexpected. I see nothing wrong with the EFCC and DSS standoff. It happens in most countries of the world. The heads of the DSS are not above the law. If they are accused of financial dealings they can be arrested by anti financial crime agents.

I was watching the movie 'American Made' (which incidentally based in a true story). When Barry's grace had eventually run out he was accosted by no less than six to seven different law enforcement agencies all bearing warrants from different courts because he flouted local, state and federal laws in his escapades. The FBI, ATF, DEA, Sheriff's office, etc, were on hand despite the fact these are institutions of long standing tradition in a country that stands for the law. By the way the CIA, his defacto employer trashed all contacts they had and 'burned' him out of fear of the law.

So thought post 911 there is greater cooperation amongst law enforcement agencies in the US as there should be in Nigeria with our insurgent, sectarian and militant challenges, this 'cooperation and coordination' is external, tailored towards common threats AND NOT internal as in 'padi-padiism. The law is the law and agents should not be breaking them.

If the DSS men cannot be arrested for stealing billions, how can they be arrested for traffic violations.... how can they be arrested for stealing from you and me as well. So anyone supporting impunity is supporting wrong. Like Magu or not, the EFCC must do its job and can arrest anyone operating in Nigeria as long as it has a warrant.
