the gud news now is that wen the is a general difficulty in loadin cards, i does not affect me, ma frnds but cards for me to load in ma line and send to em!

Mine was free, yes FOC! This was in 2001, one week after Econet launched their network in Lagos.

Econet gave some sim packs (Buddy line with a Sagem fone), to Cool FM in Lagos to give away to listeners who answer Econet/Buddy related questions on air. I was lucky to have answered the questions correctly and was one of the lucky winners that evening.

Ugh! Please u guys should not remind me.   Got our first phone ( I say "our" because I shared it with my sis) in 2001 when MTN came first came in. I think everything plus my phone (MOTOROLA TALKABOUT!) was about N35k-N40k . Those guys ripped us off mehn! To think I was feeling like a Gee then with my Motorola TalkAbout, oh sorry Walkie-Talkie . I still preferred it to those who had SAGEM and TRIUM, LOL! Then Nokia "Blue eye" came out and everyone thought it was the ish. Meeeeehn! Those were the days! MTN and Econet chopped us sha! MTN especially. It was ridiculous! Thank the stars for GLO. They brought sanity to the whole mess.

No be lie oooo. If you didn't have a phone then you were a slacker. Chics did anything just to get a phone, no matter the type.

I got my econet contract line for 20K in 2001. My first bill was 23k I shako paid, the next was 28k, I called econet that I was  allergic to mobile phones that I wanted to cancel. By the time we dragged it the bill was up to 50k. I paid all my gbese in instalments.

hmmm, memories. My 1st MTN line went for over 20k, that was in late 2002. MY 1st phone, sony ericsson T29, CAN'T even recall the actual price now.
