It's quite unfortunate Atiku always find himself picking the short stick. From contributing to Obj's success and being pushed out and again contributing to the apc's (Buhari) success and being pushed aside again.
For now, I don't think pdp can win 2019. Maybe things may change later in late 2018.
To those saying Atiku is corrupt, yes he may be. But so are all other leaders. It's just the way Nigeria is. As long as a person have opprtunity to steal, he/she will steal. At least try and do something and minimize the stealing.
I don't care if apc or pdp or a new party wins 2019. I want this suffering to end.

Anybody that have d wisdom to ensure his ppl are not hungry shld be supported to become president.. I will never repeat my mistake I made in 2015 that brought pain and hunger to my community right now.

Buhari won't make that mistake of re-contesting though undecided

LasGidiOwner:
Atiku will trash Bubu in the north. With the VP from the SE(block votes), it will be a walk in the park as the SS(block votes) and NC(block votes) will vote massively for Atiku presidency than Buhari presidency. SW will be divided alongside PDP/APC/AD thereby making it impossible for APC to win handsomely in the region.

At the end Atiku will score the highest votes across Nigeria to send the incompetent Buhari back to Daura.

Atiku can't win PDP primary election I'm very sure of that and if automatic ticket is given to him, the party would be split again.

Theirs eyes being opened? If at all the eyes are, you think the next person they will now open the eyes to see is Atiku?! I tell you, the kind of of political followership Buhari has had overtime in North is cult-like and that is not determined by anything, call it suffering or any name.

Buhari has always received massive votes in North even when he featured in his newly formed and unpopular party, CPC back then. And that was not different when he contested against a fellow Northerner, Yar'adua.

His undoing at that time was lack of widespread acceptability and the fact that he was contesting against the almighty ruling Centre as a political lone ranger. That was the kind of advantage the likes of Tunubus leveraged upon to sell their party in 2015 against the already formidable PDP.

Atiku is in no measure comparable to Buhari in North when it comes to political acceptability. And I don't see that changing in 2019 as long as he is still alive, unless he does not contest for any other reason.

Every morning, Atiku wakes up, and he shudders when he recalls that monumental fuckup.
It is made worse by subsequent happenings:
Reporters to OBJ: Mr. President, your Vice Atiku is running for office and fancies his chances. What is your take?
OBJ: *didn't give long speech* *didn't detract his now foe* simply chuckled and said the three hardest words in the history of Nigeria, I DEY LAFF.

God. grin grin grin cry

It was truly so sad. Atiku had it all in the palm of his hands but he let the snake escape and he has been chasing it for the past 13 years.

Another mistake was him leaving PDP after 2011 primaries. It would have made more sense for him to stay, especially after people like Saraki and Kwankwaso left and supported Jonathan. That would have made him one of the more senior PDP members and he would have the advantage of going for the Presidential ticket in either 2015 or now in 2019.

But all that is in the past. The way I see it, Atiku will have to go all out to win in 2019 and it won't be easy. First of all, the key people in PDP are waiting for him. People like Dankwambo, Shekarau, Lamido, Makarfi and co will rather burn down PDP than let Atiku get that presidential ticket. Overcoming then won't be easy.

The possibility of Kwankwaso returning to PDP is also going to be a challenge for Atiku- let us all remember that Kwankwaso got more delegates than Atiku during 2014 APC primary without spending up to half of what Atiku spent.

In addition to this, South East gladiators who are eyeing 2023 presidency would work against Atiku due to the fear of Atiku going for 8 years should he win the election.

We also cannot forget OBJ who would rather die than let Atiku win presidency.

All things considered, Atiku has his work cut out for him. He will have to work hard to counter all the enemies that will come for him and he will need to do so much to deprogram the population that have been trained to see him as corrupt, even when he is no more corrupt than anybody else.

I wish him the best of luck.

I agree with you 100%, Buhari wont win any state in the south east or even south south, just like the last election, and I can also assure you that should Buhari remain the APC candidate, Atiku cant win any single northern state even Adamawa his home state. The battleline for 2019 election is the south West, Ordinarily you will expect that the south west will vote for an Osinbajo, but south west electorates know better and permit me to say are "probably" the only part of Nigeria( with all due respect to the others) where they don't vote based on sentiments but Reasoning,
Chiadikaobi:
I give up here.

You don't know jack about southeast politics. I can assure you that buhari won't win any of the southeastern states in nigeria.

And please, southeast governors don't dictate to the masses on whom to vote. We vote with our conscience and belief

Since 1999 that we started Democracy in Nigeria,i have never failed any prediction when it comes to federal or governorship elections in Nigeria and you can quote me after 2019 elections ok.
Buhari will win 2019 elections with huge votes.

I so doubt that sir
But even if it happens, it will obviously not be based on or attributable to the metrics spelt out on this analysis of yours.

The moment PMB left ANPP, he didn't join any party again. He formed CPC and his CPC merged with ACN, ANPP to form APC. Buhari followed his party to the APC. That is FORWARD EVER BACKWARD NEVER!

Atiku left PDP to join Tinubu's AC. He left AC, went back to the PDP, again, he left PDP and joined APC. Again, he left APC and went back to the PDP..He formed a political party called PDM but he has no courage to join it. ..That is political stagnation. ONE STEP FORWARD, ONE STEP BACKWARD!!!

Nothing stops anyone from jumpology but issues must be clearly stated.

Atiku should realize he may not be president but he could wield power even without being president. He could join PDP and agree to share power (alongside other heavyweights) with whoever wins.

The attitude of winner takes all is what causes wahala after primaries. A party should have have mechanisms to ensure that every contender doesn't lose out totally.

I'd prefer Dankwambo anyway. A fresh start.

Breaking News:

ATIKU DECAMPS FROM APC

Read statement of resignation below:

Statement of resignation of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar (Waziri Adamawa) Vice President of Nigeria, 1999-2007 from the All Progressives Congress

On the 19th of December, 2013, I received members of the All Progressives Congress at my house in Abuja. They had come to appeal to me to join their party after my party, the Peoples Democratic Party, had become factionalized as a result of the special convention of August 31, 2013.

The fractionalization of the Peoples Democratic Party on August 31, 2013 had left me in a situation where I was, with several other loyal party members, in limbo, not knowing which of the parallel executives of the party was the legitimate leadership.

It was under this cloud that members of the APC made the appeal to me to join their party, with the promise that the injustices and failure to abide by its own constitution which had dogged the then PDP, would not be replicated in the APC and with the assurance that the vision other founding fathers and I had for the PDP could be actualized through the All Progressives Congress.

It was on the basis of this invitation and the assurances made to me that I, being party-less at that time, due to the fractionalization of my party, accepted on February 2, 2014, the hand of fellowship given to me by the All Progressives Congress.

On that day, I said "it is the struggle for democracy and constitutionalism and service to my country and my people that are driving my choice and my decision" to accept the invitation to join the All Progressives Congress.

Like you, I said that because I believed that we had finally seen the beginnings of the rebirth of the new Nigeria of our dreams which would work for all of us, old and young.

However, events of the intervening years have shown that like any other human and like many other Nigerians, I was fallible.

While other parties have purged themselves of the arbitrariness and unconstitutionality that led to fractionalization, the All Progressives Congress has adopted those same practices and even gone beyond them to institute a regime of a draconian clampdown on all forms of democracy within the party and the government it produced.

Only last year, a governor produced by the party wrote a secret memorandum to the president which ended up being leaked. In that memo, he admitted that the All Progressives Congress had "not only failed to manage expectations of a populace that expected overnight ‘change’ but has failed to deliver even mundane matters of governance".

Of the party itself, that same governor said "Mr. President, Sir Your relationship with the national leadership of the party, both the formal (NWC) and informal (Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso), and former Governors of ANPP, PDP (that joined us) and ACN, is perceived by most observers to be at best frosty. Many of them are aggrieved due to what they consider total absence of consultations with them on your part and those you have assigned such duties."

Since that memorandum was written up until today, nothing has been done to reverse the treatment meted out to those of us invited to join the All Progressives Congress on the strength of a promise that has proven to be false. If anything, those behaviours have actually worsened.

But more importantly, the party we put in place has failed and continues to fail our people, especially our young people. How can we have a federal cabinet without even one single youth.

A party that does not take the youth into account is a dying party. The future belongs to young people.

I admit that I and others who accepted the invitation to join the APC were eager to make positive changes for our country that we fell for a mirage. Can you blame us for wanting to put a speedy end to the sufferings of the masses of our people?

Be that as it may be, after due consultation with my God, my family, my supporters and the Nigerian people whom I meet in all walks of life, I, Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa, hereby tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress while I take time to ponder my future.

May God bless you and may God bless Nigeria.

Atiku Abubakar

All PDP needs to do are three key steps:

1. Begin now to trains its local agents on how to take pictures of result sheets at their polling units and text to PDP national situation room for compilation of what is happening at the local level in real time.
This reduces the chance of APC to successfully rig the 2019 elections with INEC/Police/Army collusion without losing out in court when the results sheet are presented in court which will contradict what APC presented as the final results

2. Mobilize seriously in the SW, Middle belt and Northeast sates.

3. Reactivate its structures in the Southsouth and Southeast.

If they do these things very well, there is NO WAY Apc can ever hope of surviving beyond 2019.

Dankwambo for me stand a better chance of dividing the votes in the north than Atiku , an atiku candidature makes it all easy for the APC in 2019.. Dankwambo/Donald duke and we are in for a real battle...
Personally I am in love with Osinbajo and I want him to spend another 4 years there but should PDP present a Dankwambo/Donald Duke, it will be an unpredictable one till the very last result is announced
