WAEC Releases WASSCE Results For Private Candidates by educluesOnline(m): 10:49am On Nov 27, 2017
Of the 133,223 candidates that sat for this years West
African Examination Council Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, only 34,664 representing 26.01 percent obtained
a minimum of five credits in five subjects and above
including English and Mathematics.
Announcing the results in Katsina, the Head of
WAEC, Nigeria National office Olu Adenipekun said
the percentage of candidates in this category in 2015 and
2016 was 28.59 percent and 38.50 percent respectively.
According to him, the results 14,756 candidates
representing 11.07 percent are being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice.
‘ The cases are being investigated and reports of the
investigations will be presented to the appropriate committee of the council in due course for consideration’ he said.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has disclosed that a total of 14,756 candidates are having their results withheld in the 2017 October/November
West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination
(WASSCE) held by the council.
The Head of WAEC National Office, Olu Adenipekun made the revelation while announcing the result of the
October/November examination otherwise known as
Private Candidates examinations.
According to Olanipekun, the 14,756 candidates whose results are being withheld represent 11.07 percent of the total number of 133, 223 candidates who sat for the examinations.
“The results of 14,756 candidates, representing 11.07
percent of the total candidature for the examination are
being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice.
