A University of Uyo student was shot dead yesterday at the Zonal Convention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B, in Bayelsa State.
According to reports, the student whose name was given as Elvis (a Diploma in Law Student), was shot during accreditation of delegates at the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa - venue of the Zonal Convention.
Reports say he was shot during the fracas between factional members of the NANS Akwa Ibom contingent, during accreditation of delegates.
He was later rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
When contacted by Uniuyo, Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Asinim Butwat, confirmed the incident as well as the arrest of the SUG President and other members of the University of Uyo/Akwa Ibom delegation.

This is very disappointing.
