Following the expiry of the date given to Keke operators to cease plying major routes within Owerri city, the Government taskforce on enforcement had a clash with defiant operators which has led to protest within the city. This has caused pedestrians to be stranded at various busstops within the city or resort to trekking long distance.

I personally support the ban as it has become very unsafe following the upgrade of most major roads to multilane expressways and I find the sight of Keke on highways very repulsive. I would have been against it if it was a total ban.

The drivers shouldn't bother themselves protesting cause Okorocha is more defiant and stubborn than they are. He won't even provide any palliative measure for them... They should take it up with good fate and hope Okorocha's heart is touched to provide modern BRT and Cabs in place of those hatchback he distributed to some of them weeks ago .

Owerri is a beautiful city though!

He has already done that as part of his moves to upgrade Owerri to international standard. Okorocha is at war with media houses for refusing to settle them hence the refusal to publicise the amazing level of development in his State. Make your enquiries about BRT and city cabs as well as mini buses.
