BREAKING: Bode George Step Down From PDP Chairmanship Race by themomentng: 8:12pm On Dec 08, 2017
A member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Bode George, has announced his withdrawal from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship seat.

George made this announcement at an ongoing conference in Abuja.

Chief George was one of the nine candidates cleared for the contest at the national convention of the party set to hold in Abuja tomorrow.

The party had on Friday cleared all the nine national chairmanship aspirants and certified them fit, ahead of Saturday’s national elective convention.

Chairman of the committee and former Governorship candidate of the party in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, presented certificates of clearance to all aspirants at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

Other aspirants for Saturday’s convention include, Prince Uche Secondus, Chief Gbenga Daniel, Mr Jimi Agbaje, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, Prof Tunde Adeniran, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi and Mr. Aderemi Olusegun.

Speaking while handing the aspirants their certificates, Ize-Iyamu said the list of other aspirants cleared for other offices would be displayed at the party’s secretariat.

Meanwhile, Chief Olabode George, had eelier promise to unite all rival groups within the party across the country and enthrone peace and harmony if elected.

He made the promise while addressing Ogun State delegates for the national convention of the party and other stakeholders at the Park-Inn Hotel, Abeokuta, Ogun State recently.

He said he would bring all groups together and ensure that all litigations involving the party were amicably resolved as the PDP could not afford to waste the little time between the convention and the 2019 elections on unnecessary infighting and distractions.

He noted that the PDP lost Ogun State to the All Progressives Congress years ago because of disunity, adding that the time had come for all to come together and take the state back.

George had also made the same promise in Ekiti, Ondo, Osun and Oyo states which he visited.

He assured the party stakeholders that unity was a top priority in his agenda for the party because it was a necessary ingredient for a strong and formidable platform to win elections.

With the latest development, political watchers are watching with keen interest to see who emerge as the new PDP chairman.

Chief Olabode George said abuse of the party's zoning formula is the reason for his pulling out of the chairmanship race.
Anyway, all the best to the remaining chairmanship candidates.
