Goodday house, a friend of mine who graduated with a third class in medical laboratory science wishes to apply for a post graduate diploma course since a masters course is too far fetched, so we went online but couldn’t find any university that offers such, please does anyone know of any university that offers at least a post graduate diploma or masters course for a third class graduate ? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by femi312: 5:41pm On Jan 04, 2018 |
lovable85:Most US schools if not all don't offer post graduate diploma. This is only common in Canada, you might want to tell this your 'friend' who seem dear to you, to check Canada out. However, your dear 'friend' has a 60% chance of getting admitted for a masters degree, two of my friends finished with 3rd class back in Nigeria; one has finished his masters degree in Pet Engineering and started working in the US while one just got a conditional offer for masters. In summary, there is no hard rule to this, with proper research and good shortlisting of school, this your dear 'friend' will/might get conditional admission but funding might be a problem if this dear 'friend' cant afford the tuition. 2 Likes |

femi312: TWoods: It seems that is what's trending now. I wish these people can learn for once. Taiwoteju: Are you a serious student? VOs are well educated! They know your intention the moment you stand in front of them with this kind of situation. How can you have a BS, served, worked and still want to go back for an associate degree? I will put it this way, an associate degree is useless! You will still need to go back to a 4 year school to complete your studies before you can make any meaning with your life. At the end, you will waste time and money. A graduate like you needs to apply to graduate programs unless your intention is not to study. With the way your profile is now, you will be denied again and again if you keep going to the embassy with this crappy admission. 1 Like |

post=63879277: Not really. My brother flew with Royal Air Maroc and he had a very pleasant experience. Also, not all RAM flights have 8 to 11 hour layovers. My brother's flight was same-day - he left Lagos at 6:30am Nigerian time and arrived at Washington at 7:10pm EST US time that very same day, with just only 5 hours of layover at Casablanca. Flight ticket was only $723. Some RAM flights are same-day, some have the long layover times. You just have to select wisely. That's the benefit of booking your flight early, you get the cheapest rate and also one with good itinerary (short layover and possibly leaves and arrives the same day). The flight ticket is also refundable in full if you book with Orbitz and add price protection of $47. 3 Likes

Olasunkey: @bold...the administrative processing you see when you check your visa status is normal and is different from the AP that one is given by the VO. Normally, every visa approval undergoes background and all other kinds of checks within the first 2 days after approval before the visa is issued on the third day (it is faster if you are approved on an emergency appointment). That kind of AP is different from the document-check AP you are told of at the Embassy by the VO. Keep checking back, after a few days it should change to 'issued'. 2 Likes |

imperiouxx:Sometimes only them really know their end game. I have a friend who is 29 years old, finished Bsc from Scotland, worked in Nigeria for few years and she is in a CC here doing IT now, Why? I don't know, maybe she is trying to change her field. But someone with a Bsc and going to a CC again to study the same Bsc course is just too obvious that the intent is migration, they wont agree now until 'after graduation depression' sets in. Even an International student with a University degree is still hustling to get job take less of a CC degree holder. 3 Likes |

I was interviewed on tue 2nd Feb, 6.30am appointment, the vo that interviewed me was very friendly, her smile sef gave me courage. I got to know of this thread after I had booked an appointment and was scheduled four days ahead. so I had a lot of issues with my application, I don't know those things are big deals, but I determined I was not going to let it hold me down, I would push through, I have God, a burning desire and a little fear that motivated me to prepare more.....i read so many transcripts and I just got four days to prepare. ps: the fact I did not write toefl does not mean I wouldn't have written it if I know it assists in the application. I was ignorant of the fact. pps: also the fact I chose one school too, was because of my ignorance, I don't know it matters ppps: the fact that I scaled through by grace does not mean you would too, please do the adequate preparations before applying for a school. pppps: I would not have posted it, but because I sincerely want to help people yet to get an interview, it was people's transcript that I read that assisted me so much, so please don't take this as show off or a means to intimidate people, it is solely for learning... enof noise making......here is that awkward but interesting conversation, I thank everyone who has assisted me directly or indirectly, and may God bless the person that created this thread... Me: Good morning Vo: Good morning Where are you going to study? Me: Tiffin university Ohio Vo: What degree Me: Bsc computer information systems majoring in software development (she checks my I20 and saw that it was an ESL course that was written there) Vo: so, you would take an English language course before your degree course? Me: Yes ma!! Vo: when did you finish high school? Me: 2009 Vo: what have you been doing since then? Me: I went to pursue a bachelors degree in chemistry, graduated 2015 and took the compulsory service. Vo: oh, I see, why the switch to computer information system? Me: I did computer as a minor while I was in my final year in the university and since then I developed interests in computer, I went ahead to study some courses on my own, I learnt touch typing and can type more than 30wpm at the moment and the more I engage in it, the more it excites me and I want to learn more (I thought if I am asked I will say; I began to feel am learning because with computer I am actually improving my skills compared to chemistry where I was doing it for higher grades, but I forgot) Vo: what will the course do for you Me: There are a lot of problems with Nigeria so I would use it to solve the Nigerian problem Vo: wow!! You want to solve nigeria's problem with computer? Me: yes Ma, I can use it improve our medical centres, we don't have adequate database so I would want to use the fingerprints to be able to collect patients informations and uploaded across healthcare centres so that they may be identified during accidents and they may be given better medical attentions. Vo: you want to use computer to solve medicine?, what will the program do for you. Me: (I still never understand the question, I just dey talk my rubbish dey go) also, we have satellite in space since 2003 and we have about 5 of them and we still have problems with our Internet, TV cables because people can't write necessary softwares to harness the technology Vo: that's another(she dey tease me) you want to solve satellite problem, she asks again, what will the program do for you... Me: (my brain quickly gather and reset, I have been talking about Nigeria and not my self, benefit of listening) ohh, I could become a database analyst, software engineer, Web developer, the opportunities are endless and the lagos state government is into capacity building for youths and recruiting young programmers to train people on coding, #codelagos Vo: how many schools did you apply to? Me: just one, I did not see a reason to choose another. Vo: (she looked at me with raised eyebrow) why tiffin? Me: when I was researching about the school, the first thing I saw captivated me, it was a statement like, your past has been version 1.0, upgrade your life with a degree in CIS, am not quoting verbatim ma, but that statement resonated with me and excited me, also, when I checked the courses I would be offering, I am very moved I will be learning software development, operating systems and programming, also when I checked the profile of our major instructor, prof. George Miller (thank God, the name was easy to remember) I saw he had been into manufacturing for 28 years before coming into education, that's a lot of knowledge and experience I will be getting to my carrier, and moreover, he has spent years on tax returns, an experience I can learn from to solve the tax problem with lagos state, because most people evade tax in lagos, and the government will appreciate solutions to this problem Vo: you want to solve tax too? Me: (we laughed together) the opportunities are massive ma Vo: what is the duration of your course Me: 121 hours, since I would be taking 15hrs per semester, I would be spending 8 semesters. Vo: did you write any test? Me: No ma, since the school require I take an ESL course, the teofl will not be necessary. Vo: so you want to pay extra money for ESL, why? Me: well I told my dad, and he said no worries, he can afford it since no knowledge is wasted Vo: (she repeats) no knowledge is wasted Me: (I quickly collect am for her mouth) yes ma, I will be having an avenue to improve my English and adapt with the American accent. Vo: let me see ur dad's statement (I gave her) what does he do Me: he does construction and real estate. Vo: what is his name (I answered) why are there so many transactions on it Me: he does contracts and help companies for expansion of their branches, I don't really know the nitty-gritty of his job....(she nods) (then she was typing continuously and looking at my SOA, as if verifying something or inputing some details) Then she looks up....'you are qualified for this visa at the moment' circled something and gave me the white paper. I was just dere stammering, yes yes ma, thank you you for helping me fulfil my dreams....it was God anyway, it has always been God. 26 Likes 3 Shares |

I always wanted to say this on this trend VISA APPROVED TO TODAY my interview was booked on the 10th and school begins on the 8th but i was fourtunate enough to get a date on the 4th of jan , i got this date on the 2nd of jan so i had just a day to prepare but thankfully i have been an active follower on this trend so i already knew what to say and what not to say. VO;hi me;me VO; where are you going to me; st cloud state university for an undergradute program in information science VO; why st cloud me; Well st cloud trains its students with the latest techonlogy in computer programing and also mix computer information with business operation. st cloud state also gave me a $8,000 scholarship making there tution way below my budget so obviously i went with st cloud state VO; what do you mean by latest techonolgy me;st cloud teaches with devices such as muti core computers and Opac 12 ( not sure if that what its actually called) VO; when did finish high school me; i finish at blah blah on 2015 then did a year foundation in toronto VO; what do you plan to do after your degree me; well there is a rapid growing job market for programmers and software developers and i would love to be part of that market i believe with the low cost of living and the way america certificates are highly seen i would be able to live a very comfortable life in nigeria after my studies VO; who is your spouser me; my dad he is the blah blah blah VO; okay you have to the 8th of jan to get to school anytime later than that would be a problem and your bank statement would be kept with if it turns out to be a fraud you would be banned from entering the US Me; yes i fully understand thank you ( i just gave her my passport and ran out before she changes her mind lol) 7 Likes |

ismuaalah: You can prepare for and write TOEFL in 2 weeks or thereabout. It's no big deal. If you have the time, you can still write it before travellng. You should contact your school though, to make sure that English course will be waived on presenting your TOEFL result. You might even be able to write it while on campus before the session starts or something around that. You can choose to defer till Fall too-instead of wasting precious money. You already have your visa-so you don't have to go in for another interview..all you'll need is a new I-20. |
